Lost to the bastards 4-3 in extras Damn not obviously what any of us were hoping for but at least it was highly contested! Any news on crowd size as I am curious in the level of interest for this game? Box score says 5943.

Box score says 5943. 2015 - ND & IU drew 8,800 to Victory Field on a chilly night. 2016 - ND & IU drew 6,600 on a chilly, rainy night. With 50,000+ alumni in and around Marion County, I thought we'd draw better. Did I mention they served beer?

Did our Alumni Organization promote it? I would think that would be the draw as an alumni event. That ND brand is awfully strong and the ND alums are organized. I have a colleague, ND alum, who has been going (with family) as part of a group last two years.
I doubt baseball draws many fans at either school on campus, but it's a great family event, even with beer...How much of the attendance is IU crowd that would be the largest alumni group?

Same stagnant lineup, same no scoring. This lineup is the definition of insanity.

Wheels have come off the pitching. Including losing a starter for the rest of the year....

Pitching??? even todays game, which shouldn't have been attempted, was fine until the rain came down harder. After that both teams struggled with defense. Last Sunday at Buffalo,Burns pitched great in relief 6 1/3 innings, just a hard luck loser in the last at bat. 4 runs in 10 innings by 4 pitchers vs. IU.In yesterday's game the only bad inning was started with a misplayed bunt and a walk, but really Baker has been our steadiest pitcher. Really the starters NEVER have to worry about a slump. They are locked into that lineup without any fear of sitting. I'm not saying they shouldn't start, but spot starts during the week, may light a fire under some of these guys that start. A 3 hit day for a sub may get a starter working harder. Also that would help the guys off the bench stay fresh.

Well baker got smacked around by a 13 win team yesterday and niu put on 11 today and the game isn't finished. You can blame rain if you want but bsu stands to lose 2 of 3 to a mediocre team. (But I agree the hitting has for the most part been poor outside of during the winning streak. Lost both iu games that were well pitched because of a lack of production by the heart of the line up.).

Giving up 4 runs in one inning (botched bunt, walk and back-to-back hr's) while finishing the inning, is being smacked around? You sir are one tough judge.

Giving up 4 runs in an inning isn't? I was a pitcher. I got smacked around once or twice. 4 runs in an inning is smacked around. Giving up back to back hr is getting hit. His era for the game (5 innings) was 9. So no it wasn't one of his better outings. He'd been better than that previously. I'm also looking at it in context of niu having just 13 wins on the season.

Just have to agree to disagree. 2 bad pitches in an inning to me is not being smacked around. Also it's true NIU's record isn't very good, but they are .500 in the MAC (7-7)
