Just where do Buttdawgs go? Collier is a master at keeping this machine running with surprise hires.

With their newby coach willing to jump from a more successful program to Buckeyes, I can't imagine they will get a high profile guy to come from the outside.
also.....will Holtmann take Butler's 4 star Ohio recruit Kyle Young with him?

Everybody realize Holtmann has BSU connection. Well I am personally connected to Chris. First met him in 1996 when he was an assistant coach at Taylor University under ledendary HC Paul Patterson. He recruited my son successfully out of Chesterton HS to play four years of ball at Taylor. My son and I have stayed in touch with him throughout his career moves. A very fine man and successful coach! |

Since 2000, the Butler coaching hires have been: Matta, Lickliter, Stevens, Brandon Miller, Holtmann.
I mean...who was the WORST hire out of that group? (of course the unfortunate case of Miller has to be regarded as incomplete) Now contrast BSU hires and extensions. The consistent stupidity, incompetence and acceptance of mediocrity by our administration just make me want to vomit. They make us look like total idiots...it's disgusting and embarrassing.
Can you imagine the Butler hiring process producing a Ronnie Thompson? Can we just delegate our mens basketball coach hiring to Butler's administration? |

Great line about Ronnie Thompson. Interesting to look at the Buckley hiring. It may have been pivotal. If we invest then and hire an upgrade, we had things going that could have led to being at the top rung of mid majors. Hiring Ronnie, a colossal mistake, just destroyed the remnants of what we had built before Buckley. But, we were pretty far then from the right guy at the right time and place to rebuild or create something. Not only could we not have hired a great coach, then, but while we could have done better, the magic moment may have passed us by long before. |

We could have had brad Brownell to replace Buck if we'd been willing to pay him. It wasn't that we couldn't, we just wouldn't. (Plus things were toxic at bsu at the time so Brownell didn't want to take that on either). Still remember a source on the old board posting that Brownell was it and the announcement was coming. And then gora let him leave without a deal and Wright st hired him.
When we hired Buckley, Stan Heath was the other finalist. We know what Heath did at Kent. We've had opportunities to keep the program on solid ground, we just didn't take them.
