Fire the coaches, hire Shaman, hire Mambo or Hougan. We need gris-gris, not X's and O's.

Not sure how many watched the game (as it was on at same time BB was on), but we DOMINATED for 2.5 sets and then......poof, we lose!
Ironically, WMU didn’t start playing amazingly well, they were making errors all over the place. If we had won, we weren’t going any further....but we should have won.

No question the 3-2 loss to Western Michigan was a heartbreaker after the Cardinals lead the Broncos in all 5 sets. The Broncos went on to upset 2nd seeded Bowling Green 3-1 the following night before losing in the championship match to #1 seed Miami. The RedHawks were loaded with seniors this year and will be making their 2nd consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. Ball State returns nearly their entire starting lineup and will likely be the pre-season favorite to win the MAC in 2018.

Which, unfortunately, will likely mean another first round exit from a conference tourney. *poutface*

Well, maybe yes and maybe no. One of these years Ball State will break thru and win a MAC tournament. We are all frustrated with the lack of MAC tournament success in all BSU sports but at some point that will change. We just need a sport to get the ball rolling and have it snowball to other BSU sports. Someone earlier mentioned BSU's lack of tournament success has become mental and I believe there is a lot of truth to that. The future of BSU men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, tennis and soccer is very bright with all teams capable of winning their conference tournaments. Eventually it will happen, it's only a matter of time.

OK eating crow here. epic collapse. Defense totally broke down. No excuse. I saw it with my own eyes and still don;t believe it. No energy from third set on. Had every front row scoring in set one and two and then panic. WMU apparently wanted it more as a team. No adjustments down the stretch. Should've won set three and choked in the final points. UGGGGGGHHHHH> soooo disappointing.

Thanks for the update# and insights. Just bear in mind that most of us on here are as disappointed as ANYONE in the Cardinal family when a successful team falls short.
MAC tournament performance is certainly a point that can’t be ignored, but realize that a lot of the pre-tournament negativity you read on here is part frustration and part our personal “rally caps” for turning this trend around.

The ladies had a great season and I shouldn't have been so negative. They certainly hurt more than us fans but we get a voice and they don't (publicly). The tears after the match were very real and i know they wanted nothing more than to represent BSU in the best possible way. I always tell my kid(s) that it's not what happens to you it's how you respond, so i am expecting a strong response next year. Thanks to the Seniors that gave everything in every role to make the program better - best of luck!

You mean to tell me that we have volatile, irrational folks on this board Glad you've cooled off a bit. Those things are hard to take and explosive responses can be expected. You're not out of the norm, and has tarheel said, thanks for the comments and insight. The sun did come up the last couple of days, didn't it ??

Yes the sun did in fact rise in the east and the coaches and team came out of the past few days with a renewed optimism in the strides towards where they want to be which is awesome. They are a resilient bunch of tremendous young women. Not all of the wins are on the court but rather in the character that they are building brick by brick. I am guilty of forgetting that in the end this is a sport and the skills and values these women gain transcends the court. Make no mistake though, they want to win and put a banner in Worthen. That's all a fan (or dad) really can ask for is that the desire is there, they don't take losing easily, and they want to win with effort.
