I only saw the last 10 minutes of the game, but this is what I saw....
Teague is really good. He is hard to stop when he drives to the basket. Free throw shooting and dumb fouls cost us the game. Nothing is more frustrating than fouling a 3 point shooter. They have better guards. Missing Tyler and Walker really hurts.
This was a disappointing loss, but I think they will bounce back and secure the 3 seed.

Persons is much worse at the foul line now than the start of the season & I feel he is just wore down. The lack of depth at guard is pretty clear when we play a walk on as the 3rd guard. I hope they have enough left to win 2 games next week. The tourney I will worry about next Friday night.

I went to the game tonight so I'll take responsibility for this one. Only the second game I've attended all season.
Some notes: Crowd was a pretty decent size, biggest we've had all season I would bet. Student section was relatively full and into the game from start to finish.
The team looked lethargic, no real energy. In the second half everyone was walking up the court on dead legs.
Lot of bad turnovers on sloppy passing, poor dribbling, and bad decision making. I can't count how many times a pass was just out of the reach of outstretched fingers, or a guard dribbled it into the lain and straight into Western's bigs and then couldn't do anything with it.
Persons had a "chat" with Moore in the handshake line after the game. Didn't take too kindly to that layup at the end.
WMU shot 10 more FT's and made 8 more than Ball State. That right there was the game. Teague and Persons are better than the combined 6-14 from the line they showed tonight.
Oh well. Put a bow on this one and move on to the final week of the season. Come out ready to play @ Central and get the 3 seed.

Guard play won the game as in their guard play. Two games running with no bench production. El Amin, Gunn and Thompson combine for six and were just awol. Teague fell on his sword and claimed his missed FTs cost us the game but there was plenty of blame to go around. Turnovers, missed FT’s by Persons, out rebounded, no bench, bad shot selection. Shall I continue?
We were also gassed tonight. Lack of bench depth and extended minutes are starting to catch up to us I fear. Mallers and Moses especially were sucking wind badly in the last ten minutes. Speaking of Mallers, he has really hit a wall the past 4-5 games. I realize Teague has picked up some of that slack but Kyle has not looked good.
Last thoughts. Officials were again just unbelievably horrid. Indescribable. Excruciating 😖.
And what the hell with Francis? Did he run over Whitfords dog? With zero guard production and a kid who has been with you four years and the third most threes in school history and you not only don’t start him but you never put him in? Of all the shit Whitford does that drives me nuts, this takes the cake. He got out coached AGAIN and you screw another senior on his last home game. Of all the years I’ve followed BSU men’s hoops, I have NEVER seen our coach treat seniors like this. NEVER and it pisses me off. I obviously don’t know what he’s done but that’s two players (Jeremiah Davis) now who have basically been banished.
Tuesday is now must win, IMO. By the way, I’m guessing our two road games next week are Senior nights for CMU and NIU. 👍

By the way, I’m guessing our two road games next week are Senior nights for CMU and NIU. 👍 If I remember correctly from our discussion this time last year, Whit offered PT to Davis on senior night and Davis turned it down. No idea if something similar happened tonight with Kiap or not, but I am in agreement that it's disappointing to see back-to-back years where a senior gets zero in-game recognition for their work. Especially Kiap who has been here 4 years including a 7-win campaign his freshman year. You keep doing this to seniors word is going to get out and people are going to stop wanting to play for you.

Man, I was going to take the bullet for this one since it was the first game I had attended in a while also.
Just kills me how every time this program has a chance to build momentum with the fan base, it blows it. The non-student crowd was decent but not what I had hoped for. The student crowd, however, was the best I had seen in a while and it's a shame the team didn't give them a better reason to return next year.
Someone mentioned the bench scoring. That was mostly Reggie Jones for WMU. I guess he was only 7-14 from the field, but it seemed like everything he threw up there went in.
On the three front: Congrats to Sellers for the setting the record. And, I was pleased that Teague didn't just start jacking them up again once he hit that first one.
I don't want the totally discount the lack of depth for the Cards, but it's not like that can't be overcome, even in a night-after-night tourney format. Hell, Kent won the title last year with 7 players playing 97% of their minutes in four tourney games. Just not going to buy that excuse. If, or when, we lose in the tournament, there will probably be a lot more to it that lack of depth.

My prediction for next week is WMU will lose at least one of the two games they have left to EMU or CMU. I don't recall any one saying anything but Johnson whose is their best interior player was playing hurt & did next to nothing for them. I really hate it when they frequently have Indiana players like Jones tonight having his best game of the yr against us.
