I hate to say it but it feels like the season is already over. I’m not sensing much of anything from other fans I’ve talked to about the Cards. No excitement about the tournament or our chances. No anticipation not anything. I suppose if we win tomorrow that may change but most people are so disappointed in our last two games that they aren’t expecting us to win at Dekalb. I’m not either. Man the ND win and the buzzer beaters and the February win streak seem like a decade ago.
Someone give me me some good news.

Same shit, different year. This team is still capable of puting a run together but it will be very difficult if we are not one of the top 4 seeds. The 8 man rotation is not an issue as our scoring was good during the win streak. The guys have to come ready to play and we have to take care of the ball. Tomorrow night will give us an idea where this team is mentally. Can’t think past tomorrow night. Gotta come ready to play.

Unfortunately I also feel exactly the same way. Maybe they’ll pull a rabbit out of the hat, but right now it feels like we’re done. The way we slopped through the cmu game and just threw in the towel really threw a giant bucket of ice water on things.
Add in the thought of trying to guard German and it doesn’t look good. Even if we somehow beat niu a lot of luster is off the diamond. We could easily crap out early in Cleveland.

I am writing the same posts as they are being made above and feel the same way.
I can't find much in the way of a bright spot in our play.
A win at NIU and a chance to get some rest from Friday to Thursday might be enough to see us claw our way back?! There is some hope for that. But.
When it comes to good news, I fear the only good news is that we still have slim hopes. I won't say they can't do that.
But the effort we made over the win streak may ultimately have drained the tank. We have gone from playing some of the best basketball in the MAC to being at a low point for the season.

I've basically decided to stop watching BSU sports for the foreseeable future. Just tired of being disappointed. Instead I will wait for the Box Score to come out so I can wonder "How'd they fuck it up this time?" And then move on about my day

I think beating UT like we did a couple weeks ago was our peak. We finished very poorly against NIU the next game out, never got in total sync vs wmu, and then of course the debacle at cmu. We lost the mojo and it’ll be surprising if we get it back.
This is very reminiscent of 2 years ago when we totally collapsed after that giant explosion we had vs emu. Totally crapped down our legs the rest of the way that year with a chance at, what was it, the #2 seed? Ended up with that terrible home loss vs Miami at home in the first round. This feels like it’s going that same direction.

Well we might get to head back to the arena for one more game. It will be nice to see everyone have a weenie maybe one last popcorn. I wonder if they will still have wicks pies or maybe some left over lottery tickets for promos

We should win vs NIU if we care. If we come out flat I will put that on a coach who does not know how to get his team ready to play. This again is a game where for us the key is going inside & not turning the ball over. Persons is going to face pressure the entire game & if he drives inside he better be prepared to pass off. I certainly feel Persons play will determine a win or a loss there.

Our coach's ceiling is 20 wins and a CIT bid, and BSU has rewarded that with multiple extensions. That's apathy-inducing in itself, two decades worth of program failure aside.

In many ways, the post season starts tomorrow night at NIU. It’s a game the Cards must have whereas CMU was not a must win. The negative emotion of letting the senor night game with WMU slip away seemed to carry over to CMU. BSU’s back is now against the wall and tomorrow we will find out a lot about the true character of this team. I expect the Cards to be mentally ready tomorrow for the showdown on the black floor in DeKalb!

I feel the same way. What a disappointing season. Sometimes theyooked sensation; others, apathetic and incapable. I thought this would be the season we got over the hump. I thought we would be in the 80s in kenpom. But reality set in, multiple +15 losses to mediocre teams.

If it takes another 17 seasons to go to the NCAA tournament (in a 12 team basketball conference as pathetic as the MAC), y'all go on without me.

This malaise is not exactly about desire or motivation. Not about lack of preparation. The emotional issue is more overcoming combat fatigue. We do not need a perfect game. NIU needs a good game to beat us. We do need a spark. And. Cannot afford Persons and Moses to be both be taken out of the game like CMU.

May not tune in tonight and will be back on board for Cleveland or Monday night if it comes to that. From being totally revved up for the postseason just a week ago to the prospect of crapping it all away on that black floor with those red Cerberus eyes staring me in the face is too much to bear.
Look closely tonight on the wide shots to see if NIU bothers to roll down their bleachers in the upper level. March #maction.
