Good bar, a little surprised at rating.
Indiana has some good beer. Just stopped at 3 Floyd's which is expanding their operation and the Brew Pub.
A couple of cases of Zombie Dust will serve well to help analyze BSU sports...

Zombie Dust is good stuff if you can find it. Will be easier. 3F has been able to expand and is going to be tripling production. New law allows more product with same legal status, and they're building new bigger brewery on site to continue growth, also soon selling liquors, now have a distillery.

Always try to get a couple of cases when I go to Chicago for work. Permanent Funeral is also good, but only sold in bombers.

Thats odd the Heorot is just the same old Heorot its always been Agree on the beer selection--it's just outstanding, and most at a reasonable price. Like beer, Heorot can be an acquired taste. It's recently undergone a slight remodel and the adjacent bar, Valhalla, offers the entire Heorot beer selection plus liquor and live music.

Heorot has always been on these "best bars in America" lists going back for several years. I definitely appreciate the Heorot for their selection. I've had some very good people experiences in there as well, though I also have had a few times where the regulars were jerks to the point of encouraging us to leave as soon as we came in the door because we weren't regulars.
Side note... I haven't really gotten to try the Muncie brewery scene. Have done a lot of Indiana, but none in Muncie (outside of Three Wise Men). I'm all about drinking local and supporting the local breweries... keeping the money in the local economy... not supporting Belgian conglomerate breweries with shady business practices. I love my Nashville breweries, and try to hit locals whenever I travel, but somehow have never visited the Muncie breweries. So... Thoughts on the beers produced locally?

The virtues of the Heorot are the same as they have always been. Great beer selection, no TV's, no loud music blaring. You can have a conversation with the people at your table. I guess if the people at your table are morons then maybe you'd rather there be a TV.
I'm amazed it's still around. In the very early days, the business model of the original owner was to get drunk and give away free beers late at night. Free GOOD beers. A lot of fun and great if you were habitually broke like I was, but honestly a terrible business model. I used to go there more than I otherwise would have on the theory that there was no way it was going to stay open more than a few months. This was sometime around the mid 90's I think. And it was wise to avoid breaking into an impromptu rendition of "God Bless America" with the other drunks around closing time. This would cause the owner to take down one of the (very realistic) broadswords from the wall and slam it, flat side, on the bar, making a sound like a gunshot. Actually, I think louder than a gunshot. Believe it or not, the Heorot has become almost corporate compared to how it was originally.
Heorot is my favorite bar in Indiana, but of course I haven't been to every one.

I like Elm Street Brewing for the atmosphere and food but haven't found a go-to brew from them yet. The rotating taps have a good variety of Hoosier beers but too many IPA's and Stouts for my taste. So wish one of our Hoosier Breweries would craft a good lager. Daredevil, of Speedway, has a decent lager.

Proct, the best beer I have had from Elm Street is the Pride of New Orleans, a wee heavy Scotch ale. Fountain Square out of Indy makes a very good (amber) lager, the Preacher's Daughter, that is a favorite of mine.
