Her legacy is she started the downfall of our athletic department that has never recovered. I believe next to Thompson, she is the single worst hire ever by Ball State. What a freaking joke!

Her story omitted the part about opportunity lost. It was not her alone to blame, but this was the time we needed good leadership willing to fight, not just cave in to threats. Moving past them and staying on course.
If we had to pay a price in those battles that's one thing. Her story failed to recognize how high the costs we incurred in those conflicts with MAC and NCAA. Those were not victories.
The tragedy is if there was ever a time we stood with a chance to do something great, that was the period. BSU was not ready, she wasn't the right leader.

Holy shit that was a piss poor excuse for writing. Please tell me she wasn't educated at Ball State It was artful writing, I thought. Transforming a career that no doubt contributed in elevating women's sports (give her some credit there) into one that far transcended that accomplishment, elevated us in men's sports from a little bitty 2nd rate men's program into a big success. Carefully highlighting every event as good news, skating right by the parts that were painful defeats, or even implying they were victories. Resolved that NCAA dispute, only threw one great coach under the bus. Resolved another by gutting programs without mentioning the harm done. Solved that MAC conference headache by caving in, making it a brag that empty seats counted as 17k in attendance. Single handed built that Worthen Arena. Coaches came and went, no need to mention Majerus or Hunsaker or others and the accomplishments. The AD stayed and wrote the history. Won those trophies for athletic excellence. No mention of the athletes or coaches, there, it wasn't about the efforts of good people in the coaching ranks, more about the AD! Every paragraph was a masterpiece.

The Soviet propaganda machine from it's heyday in the early '60s would be envious.

Not even going to read it. Don't need the aggravation. I think most people have a general awareness of the downside of affirmative action hiring as opposed to hiring on merit. But it's one of those things that are currently taboo to discuss in public.

The ole' Ankle Taper...I remember it and her well. I am trying to forget. Everytime I think I have forgotten, they draw me back in. Thanks a lot.
