After sweeping the 3 game series with NIU in MAC West play, the Huskies turned the tables in the opening round of the MAC tournament by stunning Ball State with 3 runs in the 7th inning to defeat the MAC West champion Cardinals 3-1. Fortunately, the Cardinals are playing in a double elimination tournament and will play again Thursday afternoon in an elimination game against #6 Central Michigan. The Chips were defeated 8-6 in 10 innings by the 3rd seeded Toledo Rockets.

I'm thinking someone mentioned being hot at the right times !!!!!!!! Stupid tourney...well, if you are the team on the other end of it.
Double elimination helps a little.
In this case we blew the advantage of a high seed which we narrowly earned. In the single elimination it's really tough.
The stupidest part of the tourney format is seeing the performance subpar because so many games jammed together one after the other. In basketball it's worse since the real tournament doesn't have that format. In diamond sports it is at least a norm to play two games in a day and 3 in two days.

My main question is, why does it seem most of our teams are unable to get hit at the right time? Teams on a roll or higher seeded get to the tourney and then roll over and die. Why are our teams so rarely prepared for a tourney?

Why are our teams so rarely prepared for a tourney? Conditioning? We do lack a good S and C staff across athletics. Lots of GAs doing the work that fully certified s and c coaches should be doing.

We do lack a good S and C staff across athletics. Lots of GAs doing the work that fully certified s and c coaches should be doing. We are definitely not the same team at the beginning of the season, as we are at the end. No team is, but our teams seem to lack energy or focus at the end of seasons. Just an observation.
