I saw someone posted on the Michiana Alumni FB Page about parking so here are my recommendations.
There are plenty of places to pay to park...Notre Dame has it, surrounding businesses have it, and yards have it. Most start at $20 and go up from there...ND will charge more for RV.
If you get there early enough Twyckenham Drive to the south of campus is a city street and you can park there and walk in.
There is a liquor store at corner of Edison and SR 23 which has parking, a limited amount, but you need to be early. This is a tailgating area.
My best recommendation is to stay away from using the WHITE LOT if at all possible...it’s so far away they bus you to the stadium.
There is a HUGE Ball State party that will occur on Ivy Court to the east of campus.

I will say this as well the places near campus will fill by 10am. The white lot is a hike but they have a continous line of buses.. ND does it right and are very effecient. Im parking at the golf course its another one that requires a bus but its cool and laid back.. There are also some real assholes up there so keep that in mind when bantering.. You might get some beer dumped on you

A Notre Dame fan drinking alcohol to excess and attending an American Football game within the sight of touchdown Jesus, priests, and nuns, I DON'T BELIEVE IT. The Pope would never allow such behavior among the great unwashed.

The Pope would never allow such behavior among the great unwashed. Most of the fans are great and Welcoming.. I grew up around there and have been to many games.. It never fails though you always see an incident.. Now I do not think the fan base is going to be really amped up for us so I would not worry too much

Man everyone was really cool as walked around before the game.. Luckily beer sales stopped at the end of third so people had no projectiles for us as we left. Some of those nice new friends we made were not so friendly then

I will add that though the buses going from White to the library (where the drop and pickup is) might be fast and efficient, after the game there is always a very long line waiting for the bus. I have literally tested it with some friends and it took up less time to walk it than to get through the whole line. That will obviously vary depending on how bad the line is, but its something to keep in mind when deciding where to park because you can't be assured of the bus going back being fast. White does have the benefit of probably being the easiest one to get on the highway from after the game if that is a consideration for you.

I grew up thirty five miles from the Golden Dome. In fact I took the ACTs on a cold winter morning under the famous landmark. Back in 1970 the interior was a mess...paint peeling off the walls, old radiator heaters that did not heat the rooms well, creaky floors, etc. I also attended many games but I will admit it was a long time ago, Ara was the head coach then. Those were the days when most of the drinking was done inside the stadium with about every third Notre Dame fanatic pulling out a flask every first down. Many in the crowd had passed out by the end of the third quarter and had to be awakened when the game was over and helped out of the stadium. Obviously I am stretching the facts a bit but not far from the truth.

Any suggestions for cant miss game day traditions. I know it will be a lot of peoples first time at ND for a game

We will be at the game and looking for a place to hang at before the game.

Any suggestions for cant miss game day traditions. I know it will be a lot of peoples first time at ND for a game This article does a really good job of pointing out all the big things people like to do and even lists the times for the specific game. Personally I would recommend stopping by the Grotto and Basilica at some point (they are quite close to each other, so its easy to do both quickly) and seeing at least one of the band performances with the trumpets under the Dome being my personal favorite. I would also add that you should stop by the Knights of Columbus when you get hungry for one of their famous steak sandwiches. If you are getting in on Friday I would also recommend stopping by the Gug and Joyce center to check out all the trophies. The Gug has all the Heismans along with the other individual football awards like the Thorpe, Biletnikoff, etc. as well as the old crystal ball national championship trophy from '88. The Joyce center has more of the individual bowl trophies as well as displays with the history of the different sports programs. If you don't have anything to do Friday night you should stop by the midnight drummers circle in front of the Dome. This site has a full list of all events on campus for the weekend. There are a lot of talks and performances that people might be interested, but there are too many for me to list so you can just look through that list and find what interests you.

This guy wouldn't be sending us to the Notre Dame equivalent of the Mark III Taproom. Would he?
