Oline also needs to get better especially run blocking.. Our run game was not good today if you take out will jones in garbage time and rileys 66 yards. We ran the ball 23 times for 74 yards.. gilbert 14- 40, dunner 4-20 Huntley 4-7 Hall 1-7

Can’t understand a majority of the comments. Threw the ball downfield. Some great caches. 400 yards passing, 4 td passes, one run - pretty damn good. Riley with 200 plus receiving yards, pretty damn good! Defense held Kent to 7 in the second half - pretty damn good. If you couldn’t enjoy this game something is really wrong!

We won and we won big, so I’m happy. I think everyone is happy with the result, but some are glass half full and others are glass half empty folks. This game, like all games, there were positives and negatives. We tend to focus on the negatives, and in this game that would be too many penalties, ineffective run game and poor secondary coverage. Positives include the Riley’s putting up video game numbers or the fact that we put up over 50 points or that we had 5 sacks and an interception. We have a week to discuss these things and more heading into next week.

Some of us were at the game and saw what we saw. The two Riley’s had a great day. But we also had a million penalties and Kent shot them selves in the foot repeatedly (17 penalties and 3 turnovers) and wasted their 460 yards in offense. Our running game was nonexistent. Our secondary was brutal. No one said anything about not enjoying the game. We put up big points and that was fantastic. But the warts are still warts and quite honestly we’d have had a difficult time beating a better team. A ton to clean up. It was great to win despite the issues but the issues are still there regardless. Niu isn’t going to give us as many chances as Kent did today. As good as the score looked we gotta be better and cleaner overall. But, it was really great to see the shackles taken off the offense. No doubt about that.

It was a damn good game but you have to discuss the good and the bad. We did what we needed to do and got a win but we need to fix the bad to win more. PLay like we did today and a good MAC team will beat us going away

Great to win a Mac game for sure.

rm I'm not positive, but I really don't believe there is anyone in Dekalb that would want to bet for your left testicle.

In person, I thought they looked great airing it out. Looked as if Kent pretty much did what hey wanted as well but penalties and turnovers killed them. They had a horrible, horrible start and couldn't dig out.
I would like to see them get it into to Justin Hall's hands a little more. He's had weeks of 5,6 and 9 receptions but had just 1 against Indiana and 1 yesterday. I had to look but didn't remember hearing his name called.
*I know that Riley had a great day and if we are putting the ball in one WR's hands, it's taking it out of another's but he's too good not to get some touches.
By their own fans' admission, this NIU team is down offensively so they can be beat!

Excellent game for both Rileys. It was good to see a less conservative passing game, albeit Kent State is easily a bottom 10 FBS school so any optimism has to be tempered. A much needed win given BSU could potentially be the underdog in the remaining 7 games. That said way better than squeaking it out vs a lousy team or worse losing vs a highly beatable team for a 2nd straight week at him. I do agree there were warts in terms of pass D and run blocking that need to be addressed before BSUs chief rival comes to town.

What do you guys think about Huntley taking carries on sweeps mostly yesterday? Seems like Gilbert got the majority of the carries designed to go up the middle? Is O-line shifting a reason? I felt like Huntley would get more momentum last year running up the middle.

Huntley on sweeps is not optimal use.
