Huggins still no play at all I gotta believe his lack of playing time is due to his choice of hair styles. It was mentioned on radio that he either goes with the poodle cut or the man bun. Two of the worst hair styles for any man not wearing balloon pants in a 1980s VH1 video.

His brief play on the court wasn't that disappointing.

Yep! That is exactly what I meant.

I don't call being put in the last minute of the game as really playing. This smacks of Mading Thok deja vu. You do remember Mading Thok? Whitford and his staff came to the conclusion he was so bad they wouldn't even play him late in blow-out games. They preferred to give even those minutes to others who might be useful later on in the season.

The game was just like almost any exhibition games tight for a half and Cards pulled away. Can’t imagine anyone judging the team after an exhibition game. I’m sure it will be a different team against ISU with all players in the rotation. Trey and Tayler will make a big difference. I’d say if they played tonight it would have been a blowout from the start. Go Cards!

He's way ahead of Thok, right now, with a lot more to offer in the future. Better body, catches the ball better, runs the court and defends better, has some threat to score inside, AND he practices at full speed, I can't see a comparison much less deja vu.
Huggins is raw but has athletic ability, and works at it, will be OK. They will keep working him and expect him to make it.

Know it was just an exhibition, but guess my question for those of you who were there: Does Coleman look like a player who should get/will get red-shirted?
I know that was the popular opinion on the board earlier, but sounds like he played better than Ish last night. Sounds like Thompson has moved into the backup spot at PG.

Looking back at it I'll go as far as saying it is possible we weren't quite as bad on defense as it seemed.
Their big guys were dangerous shooting outside. We did seem to pick it up and make some adjustments the second half and improve.
The game would have been closer if they hadn't suffered from the fatigue second half from a second game in two nights.
Just looking at the box score Teague had a decent game, but watching the game I thought he was just not really focused, and was not really active on defense. But that is Teague. He can look so good when he turns it on. And not just on offense, he can really defend when he is motivated. He's got to play better against post players and on the defensive boards.

He looked solid enough to contribute if needed. He did a lot of good things. He also did a lot of rookie things. I'm not sure he will be needed unless we have injury issues. I think they should try to red-shirt him.

It will be interesting to see how things work out. We are getting Indiana State at a good time as two transfers will not be eligible until second semester for them. Neese and Christian Williams tansferring in from Iowa will not play against us. I will be at the Purdue game and will be interested in how we physically compete against the Boilers. I will be looking at how we defend Harms and Edwards and how well we keep them off the offensive boards. To me, How we compete with Purdue will go a long way in how the preseason goes. Purdue is big, has a great guard in Edwards and has complimentary shooters (Cline) (Bordeaux) on the perimeter plus they have an outstanding recruiting class. They will be young off the bench with several of their subs being freshman. If you have never been to Mackey Arena, you definitely need to go to this one. As good as a college basketball atmosphere you will find.

Don't know what to think after watching this exhibition. Walton and Mallers looked sharp but our D was pretty weak off the dribble. I think this team has some decent depth except for the #5. Coleman is a lot bigger than I thought. Gunn looks a lot more mobile after his weight loss. Hopefully, Parsons and Trey can get in the groove quickly.

my concern with Teague is most of the time he did not even put a fight on d. He was getting worked by a very slow u of I post player

We'll be crushed by PU. No position where we're equal except maybe forward, but if we play hard and compete it's a good sign.
