Nice debut for Hazen. Strong team offensive rebounding. Next 2 games will be quite tough but they took care of homecourt vs an in state mid major foe tonight so I cant complain even with a sloppy 1st half.

Only complaint I have is Trey thinking every time he has the ball at the top of the key that’s he’s obliged to attempt some fancy crap one on one move. Haha,

Man, Walton is fun to watch. His leaping ability is unreal.

No Coleman, can we assume he's a red-shirt?

No Coleman, can we assume he's a red-shirt? He looked good in exhibition. But no PT it appears. If so, next year we would bring in Acree, Thomas and Coleman plus some freshmen. That will be a pretty athletic trio.

Always good to win! The good: Walton and Hazen are what I thought as both are going to be really good MAC players. If Walton can continue to shoot 70% from the line, he is going to be a 15 point per game scorer as he will always get to the rim. Hazen is an energizer bunny and has always had a good feel around the bucket and that was evident tonight. Not strong but he is active, quick and has improved his offense. I expected a guy who could be a 10 and 7 rebound guy and that is what he should do every night. Great first night for him and Walton. Persons is quicker and for the most part made good decisions with the ball. Teague is a matchup nightmare for bigger players with his ability to put it on the floor. Still makes quite a few bad decisions for my liking but when he is active like tonight, he is All MAC material. Has to bring it every night but great start. Mallers did not play well tonight but he did not have to which is our strength of having interchangeable players at the 3 & 4. He will have better nights. Niehls is nothing more then a perimeter shooter who needs space to get it off. Not impressed as there are guys like him in every hs gym in the state. El Amin has not improved and other then a couple of shots he hit, the guy may be the worst defender on the team. He has been a big let down to me considering his pedigree. Moses is still the same ole same ole, he will play well against teams that do not have strong post players and will struggle with the better programs. Gunn is strictly a set up and pop shooter. Horrible defensive player. He looks physically great but man is he one dimensional right now. If he wants to continue only shooting the 3 with open looks, he better show he can put it on the floor and get to the rim and finish. Finally, never put him on a post player. He is awful.
The bad: fellas, thank goodness that ISU’s inside player could not throw it in the ocean because we absolutely could not guard him. Did not matter who we put on him as he established position at will. Thank goodness he was a bricklayer. On the ball defense will continue to be a problem with breakdowns off the dribble. We have to be better if we expect to play with Buffalo and the upcoming schedule. Our lack of inside depth is going to be an issue once again. I realize Trey is getting back from injury but we are so frail size wise I am afraid to what is in store when we play the big guys coming up and Buffalo who is physical. Call me a broken record all you want but it is again going to be a major problem as we move on.
I like this team and believe we are going to challenge for the 2nd best team in the MAC but lord help us when Moses gets in foul trouble. Good win tonight and now on to the Boikers.

For some reason on "masseyratings.com" , ISU was ranked ahead of us.

Fun game to watch... Looked a whole lot better in the 2nd half. If Purdue has good post play they are going to drill us.. Its going to take great effort and maybe a little poor play from PU and Also VT for us to steal one from them.. We will be a really good in the MAC though
