Yeh. Buddy and I commented that we are always throwing three and four yards with five to gain whereas Georgia State would go six to gain five. Doesn't seem that difficult to understand. Again, it seems to be that "plan" that you talked about where we are thinking that the receivers will always make-up the difference. I thought too, on Saturday, I would have run some sort of slant down by the endzone when Brown was split out to the right. He is supposedly our fastest receiver and that would have seemed ideal to me.

Does anyone who went to the GoDaddy bowl remember when Pete turned to the BSU fans in attendance and yelled for them to shut up? I was not there for the bowl game. What was the story here for Pete doing that? I am curious. I was right in the middle of this and what happened was the team was having an unusual issue getting the plays in from the sideline and the receivers were not able to hear Wenning call audibles at the line because of typhoon strength wind and the fact that our cheerleaders who were right behind the team bench were yelling loudly and encouraging our crowd to get loud while we were on offense. I tried to explain it to some of the cheerleaders and I get the feeling they had never watched a football game before and thought I was nuts. Pete was justified in trying to get the stupid cheerleaders to shut up.

Yeah you do not get loud on offense. Geez. We lack the details of a football school

As far as the Elon guys, when we hired Pete sone of their posters had similar things to say about him at the time. And, we are seeing it play out now, plus hearing some things internally. Save a few really good young players on offense the overall recruiting doesn't appear sufficient to compete in the MAC.

I've always thought Pete changed somewhat in his demeanor and enthusiasm when he didn't get the Virginia or Wake job. Kind of like you didn't get the job you really wanted and now you're stuck with the job you don't really want kind of feeling. I wonder if he thinks his window of opportunity has now come and gone and he's not really committed to making Ball State football great as he did when he first got here because he had his eye on a bigger prize!

Redfeather, there's a lot of truth in what you said.

Lembo is brilliant at manpower and organization planning, but internally ,comments are that he is not a 'players coach'. Strosky was much more liked by the players.. High strung... Have heard comments like this also about Lembo . So where does that leave us? A coach that may be less than committed to long term BSU success, with players who see the ' system' not working.. I hope that is not the case. It doesn't make for a successful future picture.

I've also heard there is strife amongst the staff.

Whenever you lose there will be finger pointing. Those who point the fingers are usually the ones that are guilty. It doesn't make sense that since Lembo got passed over for a mediocre job at Wake Forest, he would throw in the towel here and undermine his career goals. If he regains the momentum here and wins again he could be in line for a much better job than Wake. I have an enormous amount of respect for the Coach and a lot of what we have heard lately may be or are rumors or made up stories. Let's hope that the evaluations are underway and some needed changes are being made and the success we want is coming soon. Many on this very site said 5-7 wins would be what to expect this season. We can still reach that goal.

This is not something that has came about overnight all this has been said privately for quite some time now. Pete is not going anywhere this year and probably does not deserve too but changes have to be made. Your right a lot of us did predict 4-6 games but that does not mean we were happy doing it. I highly doubt it happens but we could get too 5 wins this year the problem with that is 5 or 6 is probably the cap for next year as well. The Defense is not getting better and there is no help on the way. If the Depth we hear of was really there those kids should be playing because the starters are not getting it done. NIU, Western, Toledo, BG and even CMU have out recruited us the last few years. If you watched them last year you could see they were starting to separate themselves from us. Im not saying we couldn't beat any one of them but we will be underdogs against them all this year and next.

I look for us to come out and be very aggressive on defense and in attack mode with the offense against CMU. I also think the weather which is currently calling for rain might be a factor. We can use any help we can get against their passing attack although it might stop us from throwing deep on them too. Also note CMU is well down the line on running backs now using a freshman for the first time last week in Romello Ross. They are going to pass fifty times Saturday. I see Lembo coming back with a win against a team that doesn't look forward to coming to Muncie. We will see what the coaching staff can do to change the pass defense in a week and to me that starts with a pass rush. I am looking forward to the game and the start of a winning streak.

The problem with a pass rush may not be schemes, but the players we have are undersized and may not have the physical make up to be successful at that position. In order to exert pressure on the QB we will have to resort to blitzing our backers and defensive backs .

Just my opinion, you're of course entitled to disagree... but I say no way. I wouldn't even entertain the idea if we didn't win again this year. In my opinion... there are many worse coaches in college FB than better. But if things don't get better this year, I'd be willing to listen to atleast making some coaching/systemic changes. Are you joking. It's a bottom line business, and he is failing. Sheeesh...................

So, with all of the talk on how little depth the program had in 2011-2013 Pete posts back to back bowl seasons (and a potential 3rd in 2011 if Illinois didn't become eligible, because BSU and WKU were the only eligible teams sitting at home) and wins over IU x2, Virginia, USF, and competes close to the top of the MAC. 4-5 years into his system we have wins over Colgate, Eastern Michican x2, Central Michigan (barely), A Bowling Green team that clinched the east and didn't care the last game of the season and VMI Keydets. Losses to- NIU 5x, Army, Indiana State, Georgia State, UMASS, a 7-5 Arkansas State team with an interim head coach, while we have 5 NFL/CFL talents on the field. With Pete the 2nd highest paid coach in the MAC behind Solich, I expect results. Frank has taken OU to 6 bowl games, 2 MAC championship games, and 5 record attendances over 25K (according to wiki) BG, Toledo and possibly NIU will lose coaches again this year and the "next man up" will have them in the hunt once again. Pete will have to get this team to 6 wins this year before I am a believer again.
