you might know NIU leads the nation in sacks with 46. What you may not know is the trio of Sutton Smith (13), Josh Corcoran (8) & Jack Heflin (6) have the most sacks of any combined trio in the nation with 27. I also couldn't find a duo with more sacks than Smith/Corcoran (21).

Lots of young talent on the field. UB has stud freshmen.

I’ll watch and hope Buffalo wins. They have really up their game in FB & BB. we need to figure out what they have done and model it. Beat me to the biggest riddle in mid-major sports. HOW? DO? THEY? DO? IT? Buffalo used to be one of my territories. Hated it, hated to go there. Winters were cold and miserable, other months were overcast and crappy, summer came and there was nothing to do, yet.....they can attract better athletes than the rest of the MAC for an extended period of time. Does the SUNY organization share financial resources which fund their athletics better than the other state universities in the MAC? Are their facilities THAT much better than everyone else’s? Gotta tip your hat to them. They have everyone else outclassed in the revenue sports. Bet we can still own them in women’s tennis.

It's money, aggressive leadership ambition to have the University represent the city of Buffalo well, which would mean even more money. It's not just potential gate, it's influence at statehouse and potential corporate funding. It's home town fans with money.
None of these 3 factors can we just go out and do. We lack funding. We have leadership determined by a state government that doesn't really buy our ideas of what a mid major might do. (Not just in sports) Cares little about Muncie.
And we have no independent economic base on top of our poor state funding. Not many alums with influence who stay in Muncie after school, care about the potential for the community
Lousy demographics for growth. Poor market for revenue sports.

How NIU always wins these types of games makes no sense to me. Buffalo should be embarrassed with the 2nd half.

Did Buffalo even play the 2nd half? That was pure coaching and playing not to lose after they went up 29-10. Horrible.
Have I mentioned I can’t stand niu?

They have a recipe that works.. Decent to good Qb surrounded by a couple speedy receivers and a bruising back.. They recruit a couple stud Dbs and bunch of big Lb's and then play Defense. Rinse wash repeat year after year,, They also typically improve as the year goes on and peak near the end
