Alright chalk it up as a win. Pretty good game. Things to learn from.

We get the win & keep the lead at 10 or more the 2nd half. That to me was most impressive thing we did keeping them from coming back.

Good win on the road. I knew we would win as I did not travel to Valpo to see the game in person (as I did two years ago).

Cards win! First win at Valpo since 1990,before any Cardinal players were born. The Cards really do share the ball, makes it fun to watch.
Go Cards!

Keys: Won the turnover battle 17-10
Teague didn't get in foul trouble
Probably the best game of the year on the boards.

Probably the most complete game of the season. Great play in the paint. High percentage shots. That was basketball I can get on board with. Still didnt step on their throats in the second half like we should have, but we held them off when they wouldn’t back down. I’ll take that every day of the week.

We have a few issues, for sure. One of them being Whit not recognizing that the offense should run heavily through Teague. (Which eha and Godette were stressing). We should be a lot more inside oriented earlier in games with Teague and Moses than we are. But again, whit isn’t real big on interior play. Gunn. Yikes. mallers. Yikes.
But we got a good road win with Persons not being at his best. (Is Valpo coach gonna make it?). Thank goodness for Walton early. Winning at Valpo has been real elusive for us so I’ll definitely take it.
Lots to tighten up before the MAC opener.

This is a very nice road win. I know this isn't the Valpo of Bryce Drew era but to win by double digits on their floor is respectable. Perimeter D was great and Walton was quite efficient. A shame they laid an egg in Evansville. If not for that and the Bama game id feel really good about nonconference play after a reasonable sample size of games.

Solid win. Great interior play. Fun to watch. Valpo’s two seven footers didn’t get it done, shows BIGs aren’t always the big difference. Two more. non-conference games and hopefully two more wins, go into MAC play with a nice streak. Feeling much better after the Evansville collapse. Go Cards!

We’re so much better when Persons lets the game come to him and gets all the guys involved. Need to continue to feature Teague as he is a tough match up. He’s pretty active right now. Keep Trey involved.
Really like Walton’s efficiency so far. Plus he knows he’s not a 3 point shooter so he rarely shoots it. Stays around the lane area.
Now just need more out of Mallers and for Gunn to not foul every time down the court. I think Ish is consistently good for about 8pts a game off the bench.
We have two more we should win and then a really good Toledo team is staring us in the face. Are we ready for the intensity and grind of conference games?

Valpo’s two seven footers didn’t get it done, shows BIGs aren’t always the big difference.
I think it does show that bigs are the big difference. We owned the paint and that made it impossible for them to mount a comeback. If either of their bigs had stepped up on either end of the court it would have been a different game. They were missing layups on offense and allowing layups on defense. I kept expecting us to get stuffed a couple times and abandon the interior game, but it never happened.
I was disappointed when Smits didn't come to us because I was a big fan of his dad when I was a kid. Now that I've seen him a few times I'm totally unimpressed.
