I think Weber and Wells are going to have a very positive effect on this team. Moses and Teague to a lesser extent initially. I'm pretty excited about this team.

I think Weber and Wells are going to have a very positive effect on this team. Moses and Teague to a lesser extent initially. I'm pretty excited about this team. I agree, maybe a little less than "pretty excited." But, still. Look what we lost in personnel, and what we gain. We lose Kam but replace him with Wells, Moses and Teague. Given how much Kam was injured and did not play, that's a plus even if none of these guys play all that well. We lose Turner, which given how he played is a plus without much of a replacement. We have Tyler and Smith at guard instead. That is big plus. We add Weber, a good player. Big plus in quality depth at forward where we were pretty good with House, Sellers and Mo. Everyone else returning is a year older, stronger, should be improved. Coach now has some players to move around the chessboard, where he didn't have many options most of the year last year. Practice should be better and more competitive, we have players who can push the starters. That is big for making a team better. Unfortunately, we have to look at where we were which was pretty bad. So even where we improve a lot, the upper end may be a .500 record. Now that's a lot better but I'm not doing cartwheels about it. Where I am positive is that most everyone is back NEXT YEAR, too. Adding a recruit or two and seeing good freshmen and sophomores this year become a year older, and finally having a team with good players in every class. That is something we have to look forward to. We really haven't had that kind of future for years. I think it will be a lot of fun seeing the team develop and whether we have any real bragging to do this year, we should have some home wins! May start to get some fans back in the seats.

Just bought a set of really cool vintage low ball glasses over the weekend, perfect for sipping private barrel Bourbon. I can't wait for the Kids package to arrive.

For what it's worth, Kenpom ranks the west thusly: 80 CM 121 WM 144 Tol 181 EM 184 BSU 185 NIU There is one decent MAC team in the West, 2 others in the middle of the MAC, really only slightly better than 3 other teams one of which is BSU. All those last three are a little below average in D1, below average in the MAC. There are 2 East teams ranked well below us, two other East teams are not that much better. In the conference that comes down to 3 teams substantially stronger, 2 others dead equal and 2 below, others not that much better. I'd like to see some power ratings, but we will be favored to win 5 or more MAC games at home, close at home if not favored in a maybe a couple more, close to or even in a couple of road games. That is a lot of chances to win games. No way now to predict what happens to us relative to the 2 other West teams essentially equal. A prediction of last place seems awfully premature, but they have to name somebody last. Perhaps we win enough at home and scrape out a win or two or three on the road? Could be anywhere from 5-9 MAC wins total. Let's see a few games and gather some data before we even try to predict the MAC West standings.

How most do not see a good season barring major injury or some other major issue is beyond me. The biggest problem Whit will have is keeping everyone pleased with enough play time.
Let's look at a possible depth chart by position:
PG 1st Davis 2nd Smith 3rd Mallory
#2 1st Tyler 2nd Kipaway 3rd Thompson
#3 1st Sellers 2nd Weber 3rd Belcaster
#4 1st House 2nd Calhoun 3rd Teague
#5 1st Wells 2nd Moses
There are a number of players that I have slotted #2 on the depth chart that may push to eventually start like Calhoun, Teague, Moses, and Weber. Also, Weber can play the #2 as well, Calhoun can play the #5, Teague could play the #3, etc. This team is very deep, will play up tempo, press, and is going to surprise the hell out of many of you....I can't wait!!!!!!!!

Hope Smith can play he has good size and is reasonably athletic. Hope Moses can play, not convinced Wells can play more than half a game. I'd bet Bo is mostly the backup at 5 and that Teague plays at 3 and 4. As a freshman, Moses is probably strictly at 5.
Weber may see time at 3 or 4, don't see him at 2, although might see Sellers there if he can defend.
A few names there won't see much court time. Until I can see some practice it's really hard to say. Even then game play might be different than practice for some players. Lot so of possibilities, more depth than we have had is the only sure thing.

00hmh....I've seen Smith play and he really sees the floor....I agree that Bo may also see the #5....agree on Teague, and he could find the starting lineup sooner than many think!!
I do believe Weber will be on the court a lot{ it has been said that he was the best player in practice last year }...he is listed as a #2 & #3 but possibly he will play the four...but I think we are more likely to see House, Calhoun, and Teague playing a lot of the #4.
I'm going to continue to say that this team is flying well under the media and fan radar.

That pesky record of 13 wins in two years is kinda getting in the way of any real excitement. We're going to need to see real improvement before any of us get carried away.

There are a lot of interesting possibilities at the 2 and 3 spots, and there is reason to be optimistic at the 4 with Weber and Teague, and if neither of these pan out then the undersized but useful House.
But.
Davis has not shown that he can be an adequate MAC point, either offensively or defensively. He could not even displace Turner from that spot, which is saying something. Smith was at best a plan C recruit and appears to seriously lack scoring punch, and I wonder about his ability to guard quick guard opponents.
Wells was not impressive at Bradley and it seem seriously doubtful that Moses can contribute much as a freshman.
I'm afraid that we'll be outmatched at point and center every MAC game we play. That's a lot to overcome, and reflects severe recruiting failure.
We'll look good when the threes of Sellers, Weber and Tyler are falling and we'll look pretty bad when they are not.
