I'm officially retiring the "Colts Draft Position Thread" since the colts are now a playoff team instead of a sad sack loser team that, for draft purposes, is better off losing than winning. Also I'm getting tired of shooting the fish in a barrel in that other thread.

Colts played a lot of yutes this season. Pretty impressive turnaround with them. Can they beat Houston again? I hate Houston.

I'm spending the weekend in Houston (not going to the game, just visiting friends) and will be surrounded by Texans fans. Here's hoping I get out of the city alive if the Colts win!

From the drafts three to five years ago, a well-managed team would now have stars, or at least quality players, currently in their primes this season. Particularly the first round picks. The Colts had Bjorn Werner, Trent Richardson (trade) and Phillip Dorsett.
This is why a lot of people rated the colts roster as the least talented in the league and why (along with uncertainty about Luck) many people rated the colts dead last in power rankings.
I may have mentioned already that I have a certain disagreement with the colts positional drafting strategy, but I have to admire their talent evaluation. Where the roster is now compared to where Grigson left it is just amazing.

While there is a reasonable argument for not drafting an OG high (on General principles, so to speak) the Colts may have 3 of their picks performing among the top 15-20 in the league. Almost certainly 2 in the top 10. This guy says 3 in top 10
And, if there were players with better performance than Nelson relative to draft position it sure isn't as clear as those General principles predicted. And if he is a top 5-10 rookie that is good value on the pick. And as you say a welcome change from previous years draft impact with top picks.
A perhaps anomalous year on several counts including Luck's comeback, but an enjoyable one we should be able to agree.

I was coming here to post about how Nelson and Leonard were just named First Team All-Pro, but instead I think I'll use this time to bitch about the All-Pro teams. How in the actual fuck is JJ Watt a first AND second team All-Pro? How is Von Miller a 2 time Second Team All-Pro...IN THE SAME FUCKING SEASON!?

Also here's another nugget of information about the Colts this season:
"In 2018, the Colts ranked last (least $ spent) in the league in "Total Spent on Defense." The Colts this year, spent a whopping $39M on defense. Not starting defense. Entire defense."

Domination on the road in the playoffs. I’ll take it.
