Well we have reached that point where there is a buzz about BSU Basketball. Locally and Nationally(Social media). If we beat eastern its going to ramp up more. Problem with that is this has happened the last couple years and when it has we have promptly shit the bed. Now it could be argued we already had the collapse at evansville but we really need to reel off a few conference wins. Lose the next one and the momentum/Buzz is gone. Win four maybe five and a loss does not entirely kill it

It’s hard to get too excited until they get over the late season slumps. Every year they seem to start strong. Let’s see how they finish.

A lot can happen from now until the tournament but we are without a doubt the second best team in the MAC. Buffalo is a step above but we are a step above everybody else. The injuries are a concern and will most likely cost us a couple loses but if we can get everyone healthy before tournament time, we can make a run.
This group has a different feel to it compared to the last couple of years. I love what Persons is doing and his feel for his teammates has been really impressive. The guy is a warrior and there is no doubt his loss next year will be a major blow we will have a hard time replacing. We are far from being the best team BSU has ever had but this group is playing within themselves and each player really knows their role. Most definitely Whitfords best coaching since arriving in Muncie.
Eastern is probably the most athletic team in the conference and can cause us problems with Thompson and Toure inside and Minnie on the perimeter. Toure is a great physical specimen who would really help us as he is long, big and athletic. But as I mentioned last night, they are horribly coached and have a bunch of head cases. You have to punch a team like this in the mouth like Buffalo did last night and they will get out of control and implode. Anyway, love the way our kids are competing and and really believe this group will continue playing at this level.

The team looks really good. But given our history with whit, talk to me in March.

Absolutely true. Last yr i felt this team after blowing Toledo out at home in mid Feb could end up 12-6 but 10-8 ultimately was the result plus an unacceptable quarters loss. This yr a collapse or not could be difference between 11-7 or 14-4. I predicted 12-6 but that was building in a L @ Toledo in that prediction. Also key to not lose momentum leading into the game in Buffalo. If the ncaa tourney was today i believe Buffalo would be a 7 or 8 seed. Maybe the best single season MAC team of the 2010s. Ohio i know got to the Sweet 16 under Groce but they peaked at the right time.
Anyways i cant complain whatsoever about the MAC opener.

It’s hard to get too excited until they get over the late season slumps. Every year they seem to start strong. Let’s see how they finish. Add in the injuries and non-existent bench, and I fear this team will wear down late in some physical games and fade mid-February again. I love our first three guys and sometimes Moses, but after that it is very slim pickings. Have to hope no one else gets hurt.

If the two guys come back at the end it picks us up when we need it. If not, the fate of the season is on that weak bench getting better. Maybe using Coleman will be necessary.

Yea you cant play 7 or 8 guys for an extended time especially when they do not really produce all that well

We don’t match up well with EMU - IMO.
Tough game with them.

I can think of no reason not to use Coleman in the next game if El amin is going to be out. Start getting him in the games.

I can think of no reason not to use Coleman in the next game if El amin is going to be out. Start getting him in the games. If Ish is out for the season, and especially if Hazen also is out, I would agree. If not. How long can we go w/o him? How much do they expect from Josh and Nehls?
Have to answer those.
Best reason to wait one game at least is that against EMU zone we may be OK with Josh and Nehls, Coleman adds less.

We took a bad loss to Emu last year after beating Toledo. Cannot let that happen this year.

This EMU game is more important than the Toledo game. Its almost a must win in terms of building momentum gathering Buzz what ever you call it. Lose and and the win at Toledo looks like a fluke
