4-2 in 7th Burns pitches 3 strong innings and is done for night after giving up 2 in 7th Hell, he gave up three doubles in a row, on 8 pitches. When hitters on good teams see Burns for the 2nd AB against him, they tend not to be fooled. Let him face 9 guys, then relieve him. I was in Orlando for work yesterday and had an 8:00 pm flight back to Indy. I came very close to staying another day to see this game. UCF plays very good ball.

Yep he went too long with burns. Tried to avoid using Nicolas too soon.

I don't disagree, but overall I like where this team is headed. They appear to be protecting some tender arms early this season, but new players are starting to emerge. I think this team will be looking very good come MAC tourney time.

Maloney doesn’t show his hand til conference play. Here’s hoping we have a decent 3 starters for MAC series play and someone steps up in the bullpen by then.
We’re not going to have a prolific hitting team, but it ought to improve upon what we’re seeing right now.

I wasn't accusing you of that - sorry if it came off that way. Just saying I like where they're headed. I think with this pitching staff this team is going to be really hard to beat in MAC play.

Looks like we went one inning too long with Drey. Nice to get the win with Floyd. 10K's for Jameson.

We squeaked out two ugly ones today against inferior competition. Glass half full would say good teams find a way to win those games. Glass half empty would be concerned. I'll just say it will be nice when we get into a consistent pitching rotation. These trips and early season injuries really put you in a bind on the hill. We've played 8 games in 9 days, and held up pretty well, especially when you keep in mind our ace has only thrown 3 innings. I'd expect him to start tomorrow, but I'm assuming they have him on a very strict (and low) pitch count. I'd really like for them to beat Kansas tomorrow.
