I don't care if he speaks softly, as long a he carries a big stick! On a happy note, I am now the owner of the two coolest chip helmets on the planet.

You can't tell about the quiet ones. Could be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I think you're definitely the top candidate for tailgating coordinator.
On a more serious note, what about a reorganization that moves Lustig to one of the coordinator spots? I know he's already asst.head coach, but maybe to some extent you have to use what you already have on staff and make it work. It seemed special teams were one of the few relative bright spots this year, at least for the later part of the season.

I like your helmets Jim!! Look guys. All is not lost. Our offensive skill players are good with the possibility of being great. Special teams with Hagee leading the way are solid. Defensively with the young players that got experience this year, returning injured players, new recruits, and maybe a JUCO or two could be a surprise. O-line will be a question but recently we have been able to fill in the holes to the point where we are quite good. Add all this up and next year could be a nice surprise if the staff has not lost the team and a few tweeks in our schemes are implemented. A good winter in the weight room, a good recruiting class, and an injury free spring could mean a successful season for the Cardinals.

He'll be a head coach some day.

I appreciate the optimism, but honestly we are slower than a snail.. We cant compete in the bottom half of the sunbelt let alone our own league. The writing is on the wall. Mark it down. With only 5 home games next year, that will be the "excuse" for so many losses.. None of the media has questioned Lembo on the issues, and they go along as if its week 3 and we have something to look forward to. We had a cupcake schedule and still couldnt pull out 6 wins....

Cedar I hate for you to be right on that, but you are right. We have too many talent/athletic issues to recover from quickly. This is a downward spiral created by very poor recruiting, especially on defense. We are small and slow. That won't change without significant gains in recruiting and that would take a few cycles to take hold. Speed kills and we just don't have it. And we lack football instinct and ball awareness in the secondary. The safety is almost always far out of plays and is easily deceived out of position. The secondary is just fundamentally bad. Same guys will be back there next year so that won't change either. Bottom line, we should score more next year but will continue to give up too much.

This is the team that left ten to seventeen points on the field in the first half against a 9-2 Northwestern team we should have defeated. When I exited the stadium in Evanston I was encouraged about this season. Then the roof fell in. By a successful season do I mean a MAC Championship, no. But a winning record and the climb back to respectability could be within the realm of possibility. P.S. Hope springs eternal with the start of every new season.

We need a really good winter/spring and renewed buy-in from the players AND coaches.

But a winning record and the climb back to respectability could be within the realm of possibility. P.S. Hope springs eternal with the start of every new season. That probably was a little too optimistic a reading, but everybody thought we might just pull off something more than we first expected in the season. Easy to see now. That half was not only one that was not very good by Northwestern but one where even if we did play pretty well, had to expect to leave some things on the table not done. We should give a little credit to a better team for that not say we should have, could have been that much better to not make mistakes. We had multiple problems where dodged the bullet early in the season, but that did not get wins. Tough competition. We really hit bottom losing a game we should have won at home, that was the biggest bummer for me. Getting blown out and failing to close in a couple of later MAC games did not make us feel better. But looking back and being realistic this team was never going to be so good that we didn't need a perfect storm, NO mistakes and at least a little luck to get to 6 wins.

If changes are to be made do it as quickly as possible (Monday). Get replacements in and get back out on the recruiting trail without missing a beat. Don't give other teams a chance to put ANY doubt in the minds of the recruits who will be coaching next season.

I'd be worried we don't pay nearly enough to anyone anyway, but especially if the truth is that the head coach is in trouble and they might be leaving with him in a short time.
All the flack currently directed at the head coach is already enough to help our recruiting foes spread doubt with recruits. And, now if you want to hire replacements at the assistant level, they want to know what is going to happen. This is a harder problem for the AD than it might seem to be.

Lolololololol you thought we had a cupcake schedule? We played four "cupcake" teams and that's including Georgia State who might be going bowling this year.
