Unfortunately yes. We don't have an AD, we have a "power word" spewing bureaucrat who values internal politics above tangible achievements. #sobsuish

Yes, because of $ and I blame Mark Sandy more than Goetz for this. Goetzs hands are probably sort of tied thanks to the colonel's 2 unnecessary extensions. Taylor wasn't bought out until he had a yr left even though he had a 2018-19 type of season in 11-12.

Beth is absolutely powerless on this one because of the money. Even if she wanted to make a change the administration/BOT would not let her. And, you have to plan for having to overhaul the football program. Again.

Something like "Although this season was disappointing, we have every confidence in coach Whitford". That would at least end the speculation.

It would be worth bringing in Whitford for a discussion. He might be willing to accept significantly less than the contract buyout amount. Based on his apparent distaste for recruiting, he may well take a couple hundred thou and the free time.

We all know Whit stays unless he decides to leave on his own which I don't think will happen. We are in situations just like EMU & NIU. Coaches given extensions create buyouts schools can not afford to pay. As I said yesterday let's learn something from this be like Ohio don't extend until last yr of contract. If we have coaches that are in demand they will leave because we can not pay them enough to keep them. They do a good job in a season give them a raise but no extension it's real simple. They have a problem they can leave us.

However the way Ball State works it will be two weeks before something like that can take place.

With Whitford having raised his average MAC tourney wins per year from 0.2 to 0.33, maybe a new extension is in order? And as per the recommendations of certain long-winded members on this board, BSU should throw in a hefty raise as a kicker.

If he has a disdain for recruiting he should be fired for that reason and not paid a penny. Recruiting should be 70% of his job and he spends the summer in California? This debacle is starting to have the rotten aroma that reminds me a little of ''Lembo''.

That "aroma" has been around even before Lembo.

I will say this Whit's spending the summer in California was based on dates of divorce & living apart a final attempt to save his marriage. So while I would prefer a HC not be in such a situation I don't think we dwell on that. I also think he does not appear to like or enjoy recruiting. He recruits Indiana kids because lots of local All stars are easy to get because they have short comings apparent to most mid major schools & thus have limited D1 scholarship choices.

Agree about California. Was a difficult personal situation as it turned out.

Not many people have the option of skipping away from their job to California for an extended period to deal with a marriage situation. I know I would not. I'm curious....who here could?
And it would be easier to take if it weren't part of a pattern of low energy recruiting.

Yeah no kidding, people deal with faltering marriages all the time, yet still manage to get up and go to work every day.
