IMO, the next recruiting class must have a solid big man and a solid point guard. Mosses is the only center that Whit has recruited, a good player, but not great (just a wonderful person). After six years, time is up if he doesn’t get a big. What would make you think that is suddenly going to happen, especially considering Whitford is now officially on the Hot Seat.

I wasn't. There's an incredible arrogance at Butler that anyone "in the family" can just carry on the "Butler Way" with relative ease. I don't know, neither Holtman nor Stevens had any Butler affiliation when Collier initially hired them. They also never showed any interest in elevating Andrew Graves to head coach when Stevens leap frogged him. Holtmann was only hired because Brandon Miller was such a trainwreck. That was an emergency hire, but it did work out pretty well. Thus, don't forget Miller, another Butler guy.

Did you not note that I was not to optimistic in how how made this statement?

No Holtmann was hired, as a Butler assistant, a week after Miller was promoted to head coach. Miller only coached part of a season before suffering a nervous breakdown. Holtmann was on the bench for Miller's only season.

Yeah, I remember that, but a Butler insider told me they very quickly realized Miller was a potential problem and started looking for someone they could bring in as an "assistant" who had head coaching experience and could take over for Miller. Whether accurate or not that was the basis for my posts.

Golder is the 3rd to leave who will have a degree. That is 4 of top 5 scorers & the 6th leading scorer was a sr.The only top 6 scorer left is Fazekas who was 2nd @ 11 ppg. He also should have a degree in May & is eligible to be a grad transfer. Fazekas was their best 3pt shooter hit 43%. If we have an opening for a grad transfer he might be worth a look as a shooter.

He was in a small school in our town (Gardner Webb) and had two really bad years and one decent year as head coach (his 1st head coaching job). And then....bang, he’s hired by Butler out of the blue as an assistant coach. We were all shaking our heads. How someone at Butler could deduce his worth was beyond us. He did very little recruiting at GW and very little recruiting at Butler. By the way, Little Gardner Webb made the NCAA tournament this year.

They could afford to pay the way even without whatever non-athletic scholarship financial package we could put together ... if he really wanted to come to Ball State. Still, wouldn't make sense for him to come to Muncie.
