O'Gara at TSP tweeted that he interviewed Whitford on Tuesday with an article to appear later in the week; so we should soon know the path leading to championship nirvana or something. On a side note he re-tweeted from an Evan Petzold, who apparently covers Central Michigan sports; Petzold tweeted regarding CMUs newly hired football coach "Officially 113 days since Central Michigan coach Jim McElwain has spoken with the media (the day he was introduced)". My interpretation, McElwain expects to make a big splash and head out of town as soon as possible.

I’m sure many fine excuses for the season going into the dumpster will be revealed and how whit plans to have a newer, different dumpster next year. We will learn of injuries, depth, shots that just wouldn’t go in, bad luck, historically great MAC, etc. BUT, we feel we played the right way so all the losses don’t matter and in terms any metric metric you look at we were MAC champions.
Next year talent and depth at every position except the same ones where we’ve always lacked talent and depth, Ish and Hazen 100%, excited about guys who redshirted. Walton. Mallers found himself late in the season. Really feel like Huggins grew a lot and might possibly contribute two years from now, so he’s on the right path. Freshmen coming in his best recruiting class so far. (Yet 2 of the 3 wont play) etc etc.
Some variation of all that.

Yeah he is going to brag up our recruiting class that contains two players ranked 15 and 16 in the state of Indiana.

The biggest two issues, IMO likely won’t be changing.
A.). We lack attitude, moxie and overall toughness. We don’t have killers and closers. He doesn’t recruit them nor does he coach them up to be that way.
B.). Whitford is a one trick pony and lacks the ability to adapt his style or make strategic adjustments. He admittedly has softened his approach which further exacerbates the toughness issue and as the season progresses and in the second half of most games he is lost when it comes to in-game strategy. Deer in the headlights lost. Also refuses to even moderately use a press, trap or zone of any kind and our offense is predictable and easy to read. One trick pony.

And he will probably double down on all of that.

And he will probably double down on all of that. He believes in his process, no matter how flawed it is.

I think you forgot a Stretch Forward 6'10 out of Canada...isn't he in the next recruiting class? Or are some of us void of the facts?

I think you forgot a Stretch Forward 6'10 out of Canada...isn't he in the next recruiting class? Or are some of us void of the facts? There isn't much information about this guy. I remember looking when he signed.
As I recall he was apparently chosen for an age group equivalent of an All-Canada game, and went to some good development camps sponsored by Canadian National Team. On roster of a good prep school. Hard to know how that compares to anything.
There was some video on web which seems to show he can run the court and dunk the ball with authority. Seemed well spoken. One source says he is a stretch PF but I didn't see video of him shooting away from the basket.
If anybody finds video or other information, please post links. It would be a surprise if a relatively unknown Canadian had much impact right away.

He seems to have a Twitter account where he posts regularly. For some reason I can't seem to copy the link to this website, but you can get to it by going through Verbal Commits, BSU basketball team page, and then select Ben Hendriks. Judging from the posts there, he seems to be a nice kid. He also seems to post more about the BSU basketball team then his own play. There does appear to be some more recent clips of him playing in a game this season if you scroll down a few posts. All the other video I have ever found on him are from one or even two seasons (his junior and sophomore years) ago. Here is the key recent video:

No one forgot about him, there’s just no evidence showing he’ll make much impact as a freshman. He doesn’t even score in double figures that often based on the few detailed box scores I can find. We simply have no idea if the kid can play. Maybe he’ll be a major surprise.

A surprise of any kind that is good news would be welcome.
The impact next year, apart from some minutes that seem headed to Bumbalough, would come more likely from Thomas or Acree, than a freshman. Or Coleman, coaches seem to like him.
Heck, if Coleman plays well in any area it will surprise halftime...

Because he didn't play this year, despite a thin-ish roster at times. Acree is supposed to be a physical specimen. He has my curiosity mildly piqued.

We will see. He did well enough in practice. I expect solid play.

I just want to know now before the 2020 season are we extending Whit if we win the west? I will say it is possible we do that.
