Whatever point the statement about his career trajectory was supposed to make, it was misguided.
Yeah that's why he was fired from his pinnacle position midway through a season. Of course you also once proclaimed "everyone likes Pat Knight", so what should we have expected. Give whole quote, and find anyplace I ever said he was a coach who was ready for a tough HC job.

Yeah that's why he was fired from his pinnacle position midway through a season. If you measure a coaching career by being accepted in Westwood, you find ONE coach who meets that criterion.

The Nevada locals will tire of Alford’s “social demeanor” well before those ten years have expired.

I am sure Alford's goal has always been to live in Northern Nevada. Tubbie's goal was Minnesota. Knight's was Lubbock. I could go on but I won't. After they get fired the first thing they do is move away.

After they get fired the first thing they do is move away. Lotsa cheap buffets and a great lake to look at. That's why we the Cartwrights settled there and we ended up with a great reality show called Bonanza.

I agree. halftime shooting from hip, hitting foot again. May not be a life goal, but much better fit for Alfords than La-La land.
They loved New Mexico. He knows Mountain West, conference and the environs. Away from the downtown gambling it is beautiful there. Reno a nice size city.

Alford will be in Reno not Lake Tahoe 40 miles away surrounded by mountains and snow storms

I agree. halftime shooting from hip, hitting foot again. Yeah my bad, it's obviously every coaches goal to get canned 13 games into the season and dislocate the family from Southern California to Reno. How could I have been so wrong ?

How the f--k do you know if he actually loved New Mexico or not ? Isn't the better question why you can say with such certainty they don't actually look forward to being out of SoCal and back in a community much more like those they have spent most of their lives, when you apparently don't know either of these people, their parents or family.
Have you lived in any of the areas you hold in such disdain.

Alford will be in Reno not Lake Tahoe 40 miles away surrounded by mountains and snow storms Reno is 22 miles from Tahoe. Snowfall annually is actually moderate. Maybe 14 days of snow, 24 inches annually? There are mountains, quite beautiful actually.
Some very nice places to live out there. Moderate expense. More than a few from BSU have retired in Reno. It is not Las Vegas. Or Tahoe. To its great advantage in many ways.
It is harder to get to by air, and it a bit of a drive from anywhere...

The distance from Reno depends on where on the lake your destination is. South Lake is actually over 40 miles. More like 65 miles.

Kinda like getting anywhere outside the neighborhood in LA...they will manage. Or going to Indy from Muncie. Seriousl though, I like Reno, as long as you want a little winter weather. Very beautiful year round, nice summers.
