Tweet from Darius Hill Dee @stilldhill 13m13 minutes ago More Undefeated regular season 12-0 all with no indoor practice facility...you can have whatever toys and facilities you want THE WORK STILL HAS TO BE PUT IN!! One thing you cannot cheat is the grind! You gotta love that shit Darius speaks the truth. You don’t win with facilities, you win with hard work and toughness.

That is definitely true, but it should help with recruiting. The work still has to be put in, but it is nice to know that you can practice whenever you want in the spring regardless of the weather.

Absolutely. And now we can send baseball and softball south or west in the spring and they’ll be far more prepared.

The whole thing is really about recruting more than anything else.. It will deff help baseball the football help will come more in being able to use it in off season workouts.. They will not use it much for scheduled spring and summer practice

It will help baseball and softball tremendously. They were practicing on a hard floor for the first 2 months of their season - BAD.

Well Pete is still lurking Pete never really felt strongly about having an indoor facility. He thought they might use it a handful of times. But for recruiting you gotta have it. Really don't give a shit that Pete would've used it a handful of times. Stupid on his part. It's good to have it for baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey.

I think it was just Lembo’s way of downplaying the issue since he knew it wasn’t going to happen anytime soon!

I think it was just Lembo’s way of downplaying the issue since he knew it wasn’t going to happen anytime soon! Not true. I talked to him more than once about this, and he was dead serious. He felt like it would not be used enough to warrant the opportunity cost of putting the funds elsewhere, like budgets and expanding the weight room and team facilities.

He felt like it would not be used enough to warrant the opportunity cost of putting the funds elsewhere, like budgets and expanding the weight room and team facilities. He may have had a point about needing the improvements. But this is always a case of finding money and that meant selling the facility to the donors. He was fund raising at the point where the stadium and additions tapped out the pockets of the donors motivated to make this next step.

I was talking to Tilmon Clark at practice a few years ago and he said practice facilities were a giant waste of mpney in terms of usage. They were a must have in terms of recruiting though. Of course you have to say we neeed this because of weather/recruiting and every other reason you can think of in order to sell it

Ultimately the coach and AD have to find donors who are interested. If they are there and were missed...that is on him.
If not there....no use "selling" when there are no buyers in the market, that is a tough sled.
If he decided to go for other things I could understand. Fact is, there aren't a lot of donors interested and that is part of the problem. Lembo could have run into that.

Question: Wasn’t there some type of indoor facility behind the old men”s gym back in the day? Hate to say it, but I think it was a Quonset Hut design.
Asking for an elderly friend ......

The demise of the Quonset Hut has preceded the demise of our athletic teams, our military and manhood in general.
Coincidence? I think not.
Bring back the huts.
