Lots of tv and conference contracts will Be up in the next few years as well as the contract for the college football playoff. If a major realignment of d1 football is gonna happen it’ll happen during that time. $$$$ and tv ratings will be huge factors and G5 schools generate neither. If by that time the P5 teams can no longer afford to play G5 schools because of ratings hits they’ll just quit playing G5 schools. With the all the discussion about paying players, concussions, etc. leagues like the MAC could be shut out. It’s all about the playoff now. Some major bowls with marquee teams suffered big ratings drops this year because they were not playoff games. Things like that can have far reaching effects if advertisers start bailing.

practice facilities were a giant waste of mpney in terms of usage. They were a must have in terms of recruiting though. Someone must have forgotten to tell James Whitford because his recruiting didn't improve at all.

In the big picture, it's probably a good thing that the donors for this project were gently separated from their money. Anyone that feeble-minded is potentially capable of doing God-knows-what with a large sum of money. It's better for society that their money gets siphoned off into something that, while a total waste, is not actually harmful or dangerous. If you can be persuaded that MAC football recruiting is a good use for your money, what crack-pot political causes could potentially get into your head?
It takes all the air out of the dropping down a level or three Not really, building a facility like this and then dropping football within five years is exactly the type of idiotic decision making that occurs on college campuses everyday.

The mid major football bubble will burst at some point. It has to. And when it does, I think it will be too late to save mid major athletics in general. It will burst if/when the Dems figure out how to enact free tuition for public schools. When the schools suddenly can't rely on millions of dollars in student funds to support athletics the house of cards will all come tumbling down. Do the dopey people who believe free tuition at state colleges is a great idea understand in most cases they will wind-up paying more for a college degree. It will be almost impossible to get into a state school which will force the majority of people to go the costlier private university route.

Getting out of the "everyone should go to college" rut and only those who truly should/need to go to college do, and everyone else goes to a trade school or simply doesn't go to college.

Maybe we should turn Ball State into trade school making balls. ''When you are out of balls or just need some and you absolutely positively need a pair that night''. For sports of course.

The demise of the Quonset Hut has preceded the demise of our athletic teams, our military and manhood in general. Coincidence? I think not. Bring back the huts. Would that be Pizza or Jaba?

Does anyone think we will never really see this Oh we'll see it, but instead of a full football field-length indoor practice facility, by the time it's built it will be a shed that houses the lawn mowers and tackling dummies.

What? How will field hockey, soccer and the new varsity Quidditch team practice with all those mowers in the way?
Drop this whole idea, modify the plans to create an athletic complex for esports.
Plenty of room for high speed internet and espresso machines and the like in a much smaller building.
