Yeah, Nobody said this team is better than the 08 team. I’ll stand by my comment that this was the best game I have ever seen Ball State play. Complete domination on both sides of the ball.

Really. I am celebrating. But people are comparing today to ‘08. That’s off the deep end. I’m not sure what anyone predicting this has to do with anything either. Toledo totally pooped their pants today. Any team in the MAC could have beat them today the way they performed. Ala BGSU last weekend. I think I mentioned 2008 and I am not comparing this team to 2008. 2008 and wennings teams would demolish this version. I do think that todays first half performance was as good as any I remember.. Competition might not have been as good but its hard to top what we saw in the first half today No doubt today’s performance was exceptional. The most promising aspect is that Neu was actually aggressive. All I was saying is after having followed this team since ‘04 stringing along 3 wins where the competition was terrible isnt enough to make me comfortable. Until it’s over I’m expecting Lucy to pull the football.

No one has really mentioned this yet so I will. I have made fun of, belittled, mocked and cursed the defense for years now. Now its quite possible That NIU/EMU and Toldeo really just stink but the D has played pretty well especially today. Even if it ends up being sucky competition they have forced something like 18 maybe 19 turnovers

Then it was EMU and today it was Toledo. I thought all these teams were better than us. We ended up beating them all and after it the fact I start thinking well we were lucky. Or this win still does not mean anything cause NIU stinks. Now Today Toledo comes out and looks like straight garbage. Maybe this is just one of those seaso n where the stars align and we get the breaks. We catch the teams at the right time whi knows. Ive got no other way to explain what we have seen so far

How was this more dominant than CCSU last year? How was this more dominant than Toledo in ‘08? The defense is how. Outside of a few possessions in garbage time the defense was outstanding. We stuffed the run and our corners played great. Nearly every series in the first half was a 3 and out. I’ve never seen a Ball State team do that, even against FCS schools. I don’t even remember the CCSU game, but you expect to dominate them.

Trust me I am thrilled and super proud of what I have seen these last three games. Im drinking beers and re watching the game right now. I am so used to us finding away to screw things up or just flat out sucking at everything that actually believing/accepting that we might have turned a corner is hard. Finding a way make these wins seem lucky or flukey is at least for me a defense mechanism. So if and when the wheels fall off Im not surprised and it does not hurt as much. Up until today what some were saying was very true. NIU did gift wrap us a win.. EMU did drop a game winning pass.. They also did have half a toe out of bounds allowing us to get the win. Today we just flat out crushed Toledo and I have to admit maybe just maybe its meant to be to this year

Three weeks in a row. Could it be this team AND staff are both maturing and learning how to win and close out games? I believe that just may be the case. The two previous weeks they held on to win . This week they jumped out on a toss up team, put their cleats on the neck of the Rockets and pressed down hard and did not let up. This squad is learning how to playing winning football. No more squandering leads and giving up big plays, no more excuses, no more missing crucial tackles or allowing fourth down pass plays to allow first downs...In short we are developing into a dangerous football team. I ask you a question, if you are Frank Solich do you want to take on the Cardinals this coming Saturday, I think not...we are already in their heads. If we do as we have done the past weeks and play to win and NOT play not to lose, Ohio will question their methods and we will have them on their heels. We have got to grab the lead early and keep our cleats on their neck and stomp down hard. This is not a game for sissies.

Maybe they just haven't had anything to cheer about for so long they forgot how to, but that just made me sad. Hopefully they show up louder next weekend after seeing such a great game! I don't disagree with the fan/student complaints, but we always talk about coaches taking time to build or create a culture, and they're dealing with a relatively small group of athletes that they interact with almost every day. Building a culture for a fanbase is going to take a helluva lot longer and be a helluva lot harder. Other than the people on our various athletic teams, I think someone would be hard pressed to prove there's a single student on campus now who came to Ball State, even in part, because they wanted to go see the football team play, or the basketball team, or any team. It's gotta start somewhere and maybe that was today, but personally I wouldn't expect any difference the rest of this year ... unless we end up running the table. I don't think there are any students that cheer any harder or have more fun than the damn band, and I'm surprised they manage that enthusiasm considering what the program has been in recent years.

I guess I have been waiting for us to beat a good team. It seems as if every time we play a supposed good team they just do not look very good anymore Toledo we thought was good lost to BG then we curbstomp them. NIU loses again to Miami.. We thought EMU was better but then they lose a couple but bounce back and beat western today. Maybe there just is not a good MAC team this year.. Are we the good MAC team? Just alot of questions that will sort themselves out but bottom of the line is we are 3-0 in the MAC. Lets keep this charlie train rolling and kick the living shit out of Ohio too.. Today was blast and all this sure beats the losing we have been doing for forever
