Our women’s soccer team, perennially BSU’s most competitive MAC sport, is wrapping up conference regular season. At 7-2, it appears they are headed to tournament as a likely 2nd seed to BG.
I’m going to remain MAC-optimistic and predict, in “Kid-like” fashion, that this team will bury the tournament hex and be MAC champions.

Cards win Saturday to move to 8-2. Still the likely 2 seed in the tournament, which starts next Sunday.
Will finish regular season at Ohio on Thursday.

Serious question - do the fans outnumber the players/staff at these games? From what I'm told, even the parents tend to lose interest once that college scholarship is secured.

Not sure. I know at golf and baseball there are a considerable number of parents, siblings and grandparents that go to the “away” events that I attend.

I'd go to the soccer games a few years back. There were always about 30-40 students and around 150-200 people total in attendance.

The women end MAC regular season 9-2 with a 2OT win at Miami (14-4 overall). Play EMU Sunday @ home in 1st round.
Of our 9 MAC wins, 6 were OT and 5/6 were 2 OT.
Let the MAC tournament euphoria begin!!!!!!!!

Well, another one and done MAC Tourney performance. Lost to #7 seed EMU, 2-1 at home, on a penalty shot with 1:10 left in regulation of today's quarterfinal game.
I only caught the last few minutes of the game on ESPN, but it looks like #2 seed BSU was the victim of some poor calls, including this penalty shot. They did spot EMU a 1-0 lead in the 1st half, so it wasn't all about poor calls.
BSU beat EMU 3-2 in OT back in September.

So, our 14-4 team was beaten by a 6-11-2 team at home. This is beyond coincidence and getting old, sport after sport and year after year.
THAT’S exactly why 123 can get 40-1 odds for Cardinals to win the MAC b-ball tournament.

EMU pretty good apparently, we ran into their best game and a bad call. Was not an embarrassment, just a disappointment.

At this point I wouldn't even call it a disappointment. You have to have expectations to be disappointed, and these days I have none when it comes to Ball State sports and post-season tournaments of any kind.

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody's there, can it be either embarrassing or disappointing?
