8-10. I'm guessing there's still an injury on the horizon that will drop us below .500

We are definitely a mid MEHjor program in all aspects. you sound like an IU fan... Except what Cardfan said is true. Well our womens bball imo has usually been above meh before MAC tournament play begins going back to Brenda Oldfield. Obviously Cleveland in Sallee era is another story. But mens bball has mostly been meh with a few outright clunkers and a few decent seasons in the last 18 yr.

toledo has lost three in a row Yeah, FWIW they really haven't beaten anybody worth much. I think their best win is probably over a team in the 180s in the rankings, while they've lost to anyone 120 or better. Lost to ND in OT and a couple of bad losses. 3-4 on the road. Our one common opponent is the mighty Howard Bison. We beat Howard 100-69; Toledo beat them 112-68. Their lineup hasn't changed much so assume they're healthy unless someone is playing with an injury. Be interesting to see what happens. Whitford is 6-2 against the Rockets in the past 4 years, so he's kinda had their number.

I am thinking a game under .500 because of the extremely complicated offense that Whit has been attempting to teach the dunderheads he recruited. In the end it does not matter because we will drop our annual turd in the MAC tournament cementing our lock in a post season tournament that no one will remember or care about.

With all this griping about our doom and with all the gloom and pessimism rampant, I was a little surprised Massey and Sagarin has BSU basketball right now 1st in the West and 4th overall in the MAC, within 3 point basket of the top 2 teams according to Sagarin.
The #130 rating is nothing to brag about, but not quite as dire as some above seem to think either. If we had won the two games that were surprising to lose at home, we'd be higher rated. The narrow losses likely make little difference except maybe in the RPI based rankings in the composite.
The MAC is slightly down from last year, the MAC West in particular. Actually a bit more strength in the middle of the pack, lacking the juggernaut top team. This predicts a real dogfight in Cleveland. Any team that can improve a bit through the season and be near its best at the end will have a good chance.

10-8, or 11-7 if they get through these two first tests. And if there is no injury to Teague or Ish.
Obviously the BSU late season woes are being factored in for most projections.
Have to defend our home court.
If the projection is correct, and we close strong, two big IFS, we might dream of winning 20 games.

I'm not projecting a record, but I do predict 5th in the West.

Yes, parity and no dominant team in the mac. In other words, a particularly good year to NOT have a coach who's a post season dud

I'm not projecting a record, but I do predict 5th in the West. You are pretty optimistic about Western Michigan. Along with the pessimism about our showing. None of Michigan teams are strong this year. Not hard to see us better than all of them.
And, I take it you predict a loss against Toledo. At least based on recent performances this is a good time for us to catch them at home. I am mildly optimistic, but our home court performance is sure lacking consistency.
