So are we saying he is worse than Mading Thok? Bik Gill? Both of whom were also Whit recruits

I believe Mading Thok was a Billy Taylor recruit who hung around for 2 years of Whitford's coaching before transferring. Definitely a pattern of recruiting front court players who never really play. You can throw in Nate Wells and DouDou Gueye to the list. One can only assume Whitford saw enough of them in practice to come to the conclusion it would be a disaster to give them significant minutes. We seem to have two more now in Huggins and Hendriks. Maybe a third in Thomas, but based on his previous performance at the school he transfer in from, I have to believe there is some other problem involved; maybe related to why Thomas transferred out after a pretty successful freshman year at Maryland Eastern Shore.

I will say since we don't see any Indiana HS Allstars there, perhaps Whit should recruit solely those players & get transfers from other 4 yr colleges. Also pretty clear his non American recruits have generally been a bust with only Kiapway doing anything. (Majok was a Taylor recruit who played under Whit as a Sr)

BSU frontline for 2020-21 = ? ? ? ? At this point, probably you and CardFan if either of you have any eligibility left!

I know how to block out and fight for rebounds. You could also screen for shooters, we just have to find one of us who can actually move to get open using the screen, and hit the shot, and we are ready to contribute.
Well that and maybe get reevo to teach the other players to pass and not spend all the time dribbling around.

If you look at the Archie and Sean Miller offenses and the times they struggle you’ll see the Whitford offense as he runs the same junk. Highly dependent on perimeter play and jacking up 3’s. When it’s bad it’s BAD. (See IU second half yesterday). Our offense lacks flow and rhythm and is easily disrupted. When we run it through Teague and let him score around the paint we’re not bad. When we get away from that and dribble around and throw up 25 footers, well....
There isn’t really an offense.

We should pound it into Hazen, who is the second coming of Moses Malone.....relative to Whitford recruiting and Whitford thinking.

We really just need a taller coach. All the players are "giants" in Whit's eyes

Well, I haven't played organized basketball since I was cut in the 5th grade....but it could be that I'm just a late bloomer. I DO have the main qualification that BSU currently seeks in frontline players....there would be very little competition when recruiting me.

I was thinking back on my basketball career, which ended when I was about 13 years old. I wasn't completely terrible...but I was a very unique player. Unfortunately, I didn't have an imaginative coach with the ability to use my special talents. I had a lot of weaknesses, but also two strengths: stealing the ball and dribbling. I was good at stealing the ball because I had some quickness and anticipation, but mainly because I had a total focus on steals when playing defense, and was not distracted by any thought of preventing easy shots or any other similar thing of lower consequence. And when I say I was good at dribbling, I mean a certain aspect of dribbling....it was basically impossible to take the ball away from me. I could dribble around the court in a serpentine manner more or less indefinitely, even if all 5 players of the other team were after me.
If I had had the right coach, and if they had changed the rules to eliminate both baskets and the traditional scoring system, and instead made time of possession the way the winner was determined, I would right now be recognized as one of the all time greats.

I think if we're putting a team of posters together we better be running the ol' picket fence.
When the General gets fouled as he dribbles out the clock, I'm sure he'll utilize the scoop shot on the free throws.
