Announced attendance last night:
Toledo 3,341 Buffalo 2,404 Western 1,863 Eastern 1,313 Northern 884 Miami 784
Our average to date is 4,079. Maybe we can rent out our marketing department to the rest of the conference and help the bottom line.

I think Dennis Celery must have audited and certified that crowd count from Eastern last night...

It blows my mind how D-1 schools can have fewer fans at their games than some high school athletic events.

Toledo, Buff and Kent draw from urban areas and are regular winners. A little better. EMU an afterthought in their market. NIU gets some Chicago alumni but most others have poor markets, student apathy. Bigger crowds back in the day before cable.

With Akron being 15 minutes from Kent and in the center of the urban area you gotta wonder why they do not draw better

Bal State draws better for basketball than any MAC school, maybe the exception sometimes is OU.

I went to akron for two years and never even thought of going to a sporting event.. I am not sure how it is now but then 1994ish it seemed like everyone but the athletes commuted. There were a couple blocks of off campus housing and small village type area with a couple bars. The campus literally sits in downtown Akron. Kent has more of a college feel several blocks of bars and off campus housing. You can guess where I hung out at!!!

The MAC is an awesome draw in most of their sports.
I noticed the FCS championship game was held at a soccer venue. MAC schools could save some $$ and utilize their soccer facilities for American football.
Taco Tuesday MAC games would then appear like “football mayhem” on ESPN2

I had the impression they drew well in basketball during their run of good teams.
