Acree is starting to come along.
Still mystified as to why Thomas hasn’t worked out.

Good, hard fought game today. Defense wins games, we have got a good defense. As was already said, anytime we beat Miami it’s good. This Miami team beat a very god Kent team last week. Central losing to Buffalo big right now - we will be in the top spot in the West when the day ends. Go Cards!

Acree with his best game as a card.. Did little things that helped alot. Luke showed what he can do when he starts feeling it. Good win in a chippy game. Not sure if they showed it on tv but Ish had an eye patch on. I also noticed Croft was on bench but at the end with totally different clothes on then the rest of the team.. So not sure if he is injured or what

Think it was mentioned on post-game radio that Kroft is injured, although no specifics, and that Ish will have to have his eye looked at further.

It was an interesting game. Miami definitely exposed our weaknesses. Whit made a good adjustment by bringing Thompson in to run the point. He is the only guard we have who can handle physical on-ball defensive pressure. We were setting double ball screens in the backcourt in the first half just to try to help Coleman bring the ball up. IMO Thompson's ballhandling and D was the difference in the game today.
Teague's presence in the post on D is a big deal.
I hope Ish doesn't have any permanent eye damage - misfortunate accident.
Acree should not shoot threes.
Nice win and a fun environment today, but let's be honest, Miami is pretty awful. I do like Sibande, though. Talk about a bad bench - Miami's was especially brutal.

First game I made it to this year. Fun time. Luke really turned the tide. Hope Ish is ok. Refs were really bad, both ways.

A win over Miami is always good, regardless of how bad they are. Only saw the last 10 minutes but I once again saw a very active Teague. Free throws the difference in the game today as it was nice to make them down the stretch. I hate it that we lose our man so often as it seems like we are always chasing and leaving the floor on ball fakes. Regardless, we all will take 4-1 to start the conference. Got to continue to win and get better.

Great effort today after a bad start, especially on the defensive end. Good energy for 40 minutes. As others have noted, a top tier MAC team gets us today, but Miami ain’t it. We’ve got a week now to get healthier for CMU.

I see how Miami won last week. They are better than we thought.
The start was not quite as bad as the score looks. Their Pillsbury doughboy hit 2 3's from downtown. Wasn't bad D there.
On offense we shot badly but faced pretty good D, Miami was aggressive, wasn't just poor job shooting by us.
Our bench entered, played hard and we settled down when starters reentered.
Acree, Hazen and Josh played well. Good D, and good ball handling by Josh.

Acree is starting to come along. Still mystified as to why Thomas hasn’t worked out. You are right. If Thomas ever finds his way our bench would be really good. Would be a nice change of pace off the bench for Mallers. The good news Acree did pretty well defending 3 positions in that role.
Acree coming around is pretty important. Right now he is going a long way to replace KJ as an athletic defensive presence and a rebounder. He showed how he might add to the offense with a good drive to the basket. Even hit an outside shot... If we get KJ back our defense improves another notch. The other good news from the game is seeing how Bumbalough will contribute over his career. Dangerous shooter, made some nice passes to assist, and isn't the terrible defensive liability we had concerns about. I still wish we had a shooter off the bench but when you bring in 3 reserves and they up the defensive intensity that is a good alternative.
Josh essentially replaced Coleman who never got untracked this game, better suited to handle the pressure on the ball. I liked it when he didn't hesitate and took his shot.
