It does make u wonder what the plan is. Other than waiting to see how far we go in the MAC tournament, this is my second most fascinating thing to watch as this season plays out. What the heck is Whitford going to do with his 3 open scholarships; 2 if K J Walton is back for a 6th year. On Verbal Commits over the past few weeks several of our MAC competitors have been making offers to JUCO players. Whitford has not and has generally failed when he has brought in JUCO's or even graduate transfers. Will this be the path he takes this year? No such evidence for it yet. I'm betting on at least 1 transfer from a Division I program like K J and Hazen in the past. My second thought is some reach, developmental project like Huggins. Nothing that is going to help next season one bit.

Im still holding out hope for a Gillis transfer from Purdue. I have no reason to believe it might happen but I can wish. The other thing with that is who knows how he is going to come back health wise.

The other thing with that is who knows how he is going to come back health wise. How does that work if you have already set-out a year? After setting-out the 2019-20 season at Purdue, would Gillis have to set-out another year at BSU if he transferred over the summer, or would he be eligible to play in 2020-21?

Unless he got a waiver he’d have to sit out as a transfer. It’s why a lot of guys who’ve already redshirted go the juco route first.

My point here is Ish was given the assignment on German and handled it pretty well. Has done that all year on opponents. Better than expected, improved more than most saw as possible. AND he has also become a better shooter than we thought. Bumbalough who was the kid everyone expected to make the greatest contribution is not as good on offense and I think better on defense than we thought. It's not chest thumping to point our how so many are negative about our recruits and we can be wrong about it. It's damned hard to do much as a freshman. It is unpredictable. I wasn't thinking of you about Coleman, more halftime with his consistently negative opinion. I was in fact more positive than most on Coleman but mostly for the simple reason I watched him practice during the red shirt year. No brag there especially it was an easy call. But, in fact he has done more than I thought he could at this point. I was wrong too, but I did show a little respect for our staff and their ability to pick a recruit, and their ability to coach. I suggest we should do that a little more often than we do. If we are going to call out BS we need to do it at both ends of the spectrum of opinion. If Teague makes first team, which he currently deserves, that will be the first player to earn that honor in the 7 years of this staff. Ish has a shot at honorable mention. After that we got what we got. Whitfords best recruit by far is Persons followed by Teague and then I guess Trey. Did he recruit House? Franko had a nice career. As has been mentioned often and accurately, we are a middling program with decent players. Until we win the league and make some noise in the MAC tourney and actually go to the Dance or NIT at worst, there is nothing to crow about after seven years of mediocrity. There just isn’t.

I’m hoping we don’t crash and burn these last seven games as Whit’s teams have typically done. A good showing like 5-2 or4-3 would be nice to see. Go into the MAC Tournment and make it to the title game. One can still dream!

If you’re using a metric that doesn’t make Whitford look good then you cherry picked it because you are biased. You should look purely at win totals (discounting the first 2 years of course).
