Andi Seger was named the AD. She had previously served as the director of women's athletics, hence the WAD. She was a total disaster Schudel left because of her. Ray left because she/they totally lowballed him on an extension offer, probably in an effort to get him to leave. Administration wasn’t happy about some player behavior and grade issues. You are right on that first part they really felt they wanted athletic success they were not very smart to think it came cheap. And. While there is nothing wrong with wanting compliance to be cleaned up, and nothing really wrong with trying to build women's programs either, there was a huge problem that you didn't get things done without strong leadership and without an investment. We tried to do all those things without the strong leadership and on the cheap and bungled it.

Sorry for heading down the rabbit hole... I still think Hunsaker was the fall guy for many of Majerus' actions (for which he was never held accountable). We'll probably never know the whole truth. I do feel Dick would've built a dynasty here. Best X-O coach ever.

Agree calpoly. Purvis was overheard to have said he would sleep better when Rick was gone. My source for this was a member of the CVC board. Hunsaker and his oldest son stopped by our tailgate two days before he was fired. YesMan had asked him at the tailgate what was going on, as YesMan had secured two jobs in Indy for two of his players from Indy.Dick said he was sure the AD and University were behind him. He really never saw what was coming.
Agree he was the best X-O coach at Ball State.
Go Cards!

I do feel Dick would've built a dynasty here. Best X-O coach ever. There’s no doubt. I know from a relative who was involved that during the initial interview with Rick he told the search committee that if they wanted to win they’d have to be willing to cut some corners. Rick believed in helping kids, and not always within the rules. Dick just followed that. He wanted to help disadvantaged kids. I was in a big box hardware store the summer before Dick was fired and came across him talking with employees there. He was explaining what he was working on at his house and picking up materials, or maybe hiring a contractor. I remember him being pretty exited about it. He was in it for the long haul at bsu, folks. He was happy there and around Muncie. That the administration totally turned their backs on him is shameful. They could have worked out some appropriate punishment with the NCAA that didn’t include firing him. We’d have been back to the NCAA tourney several times more. He’s a good man and the best x and o coach we’ve ever had. Damn he was good.

...And yet here we are with Whit being called one of the best with an over all losing record in a shitty mid major conference. Can you imagine what we could have done with Hunsaker in this conference...We would be dominating...Instead some are happy without making any noise in the MAC tournament...How sad is that?
