Both should be back and if Gunn learns to take it off the dribble and KJ works on his jump shot they could be dangerous....just imagine if Gunn could drive like KJ and KJ could shoot like Gunn....now thats a recipe for success.

Neither will never happen this late in a players development.. Its not like either can kind of shoot or drive its just something they do not do.. You have to have some sort of the skill set to improve on it

They are who they are at this point. Snd Whitford says you can’t teach shooting. You either can or you can’t by college.

You gotta say that this year, before his injury, KJ really began to reap the rewards of having 2 years to work on his shot since transferring:
I mean he was shooting 45% from the field, 59% on free throws and 0% on threes. With another year, his FT shooting might hit 60%. Hell, he might even hit a 3.

I’d prefer Walton pack his bag and move on. Nothing more I want to see.

Walton's ability to get another year, based on discussion that's taken place on other threads, appears to be more questionable. However, both the school and the player seem to think he's got a good chance of being given another year by the NCAA since he's not playing, even though he appears to be healthy enough to do so at this point. I assume the NCAA will hand down an official ruling on his situation sometime in the future.

I assume Whitford will be interviewed by some NCAA representative and he will truthfully explain that our player was totally unable to perform to the pre-injury level. 🙄That will probably be sufficient for the NCAA and our player will be able to return somewhere and demonstrate that extraordinary talent to all those professional teams clamoring for his level of service.

My bet is Walton never plays on the court in a BSU uniform. Yes I think Gunn will shoot for us again.

My bet is Walton never plays on the court in a BSU uniform. Yes I think Gunn will shoot for us again. Actually, although we probably would be able to use his talents, he is very fast in the open court and potentially a very good offensive rebounder, I wonder if he would be a huge factor if he was back.
He'd likely be an athletic defender in an up tempo game. We don't play that way this year, but might go that way with a small ball lineup. Clearly the big issue will be finding a big man and KJ doesn't help much there.
Even assuming a small lineup so there is room for him to play, with Acree coming along and showing not only athleticism but more length and much better shooting, I don't necessarily see Walton as a starter. Especially if Thomas somehow finds his way. KJ has never shown much ability as a true guard on offense. Makes more sense for Acree or Coleman, or Thomas, to start at SF, along with Ish and Bumbalough. Gives us more shooters, with KJ as good bench player capable of substituting for any of them or being a defensive answer to an opposing player. At best he competes with 3 or 4 other players at 2 positions for PT.
OK I suppose maybe he finally decides he needs to find a shot doctor and have major surgery....

Will they announce Walton with Teague, Mallers, and Thompson as seniors graduating from the team? Seniors sometimes (normally?) start and play for at least a few minutes in their last home game. Guess that isn't going to happen next Tuesday with Walton.

I was thinking the same thing. Will he get his framed jersey and walk out with his parents? The starting seniors thing is a non Whitford trademark. He is so clueless to stuff like this which bugs the shit out of me. He’s also oblivious to the take your senior out for a final ovation late in a game. But at least that’s consistent with his oddball personality.
