Power 5 havre to have schollies available for transfers though at the expense of high school kids, who will then drop to the mid majors. Maybe the net effect will be that kids who are fringe power 5 players don’t get the power 5 offer they were hoping for will go to the bsu’s of the world. That would bolster mid major rosters a bit.
Upper tier programs ‘could’ raid lower level rosters, but I think instead they’ll have to be selective because of scholarship limits. What WILL happen is a ton of mid major kids who THINK they belong in a power 5 roster will bail on their team and then find themselves out in the cold. But then mid major coaches will have to decide if they wAnt to hold a spot for any of their players who enter the portal in case a kid wants to stay. That’s where it could really get problematic.
An unintended consequence of the play 4 games only and still keep a season of eligibility rule Is guys playing the first 4 games and then entering the portal. Really screws their current program.
Be interesting to see if the new transfer rule leads to a free for all at every level of NCAA schools or if it regulates itself when reality hits players who want to transfer.

If the transfer rule starts in the fall I think lots of potential transfers may find themselves hurt just as players have done declaring for the pro drafts in the past.Basketball players probably will have an easier time than FB. The possibility of players entering the transfer pool & finding no P5 interest I think will be high.

5 wins again. People saying we will beat Wyoming?! They are a good team returning a good amount of their starters. That is almost a sure L unless the D has completely been overhauled. (hope im wrong but we are going to be going out of non-con 1-3.

It seems as if us that are firmly grounded on the football side of things have a much better perception of reality than the basketball lifers.. 6-7 wins seems to be the magic number.
This is assuming the D is marginally better if not we will get stuck on 4 and it should be start over time again

I think Wyoming is a loss. They’ll be bigger abs tougher than us. That schedule doesn’t favor us. If we go 1-3 in non conf., which seems likely, it’s hard to see 5 conference wins to get us to 6. That defense needs to be A LOT better to have a shot. I see 4 wins. Not real confident in the staff.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the staff. I think the new DC will be a good thing. That in my opinion can make a big difference. The other changes, no so sure.

According to Sharp College Football, #113 Ball State will be playing: n/a | Maine | #18 | @ Michigan | #22 | @ Indiana | #80 | Wyoming | #99 | WMU | #71 | @ Buffalo | #109 | NIU | #127 | Akron | #107 | @ Miami | #111 | EMU | #90 | @ CMU | #97 | @ Toledo |
So, we will probably win 2 games, and be close to winning in 3 other games. Here's how the MAC looks according to Sharp: Overall Rank |
| Coach & Dev Rank | Recruiting | #67 | Ohio | #18 | #107 | #71 | Buffalo | #54 | #117 | #90 | CMU | #93 | #97 | #97 | Toledo | #75 | #81 | #99 | WMU | #73 | #87 | #107 | Miami | #95 | #109 | #109 | NIU | #83 | #110 | #111 | EMU | #83 | #125 | #113 | Ball State | #125 | #113 | #122 | Kent State | #123 | #126 | #126 | Bowling Green | #118 | #106 | #127 | Akron | #120 | #116 |

I’m seeing 4 wins. Unless the defense is a major surprise, in which case we get 6 wins. Wyoming is the key to 6 wins, IMO.

Neu needs a ''signature win'' and Indiana University might be it. The last year or two we have shown up well in a number of games where not much was expected. I think IU may be caught off guard and we could steal a close game with the help of a couple of timely turnovers.
