Love it!!!! To all the doom and gloomers who question Whitford on what he's going to do after Kroft and Ish left.....this is Phase I Next year's Too Early Starting Line-up: Miryne Thomes - Listen...this kid is going to explode next year Reggie Jones - Experienced and plug in Brachen Hazen/Transfer TBA - Yes, Whitford will have another announcement soon KJ Walton - 36 minutes a game Coleman - Stud in the making 6th man specialist- Bumbulough Bench - Acree, Hendricks, JUCO We are in good hands!! I'll bet Cardsfan this will be a 20 win team a night at Pizza King!!! Who is going to shoot the ball in the starting lineup? Better question, who is going to shoot a decent percentage? All of us doom and gloomers will await a response from the sniffers and smoochers.

At risk of being called an apologist, we really have to give him a break for not winning one or more games this year... I did. Do the math. Good job! But my point was valid. We had a good chance to improve the unimpressive record that exists.

Walton (not a shooter), Coleman, Hazen, Acree, and Thomas all shoot over 40% from the field-Hazen, Bumbalough, Coleman, Thomas all shot over 30% from 3. Not elite, grant you, but not doom and gloom. Also, the mysterious transfer listed above would have to be grad, juco or special circumstance to play next year, right?

Next year's Too Early Starting Line-up: Miryne Thomes - Listen...this kid is going to explode next year Reggie Jones - Experienced and plug in Brachen Hazen/Transfer TBA KJ Walton - 36 minutes a game Coleman - Stud in the making 6th man specialist- Bumbulough Bench - Acree, Hendricks, JUCO We better get some TBA help up front. Or see Hendricks step up big.
Thomas and Jones should be able to hold down one position pretty well. I'd expect 3 guards most of the time including Coleman.
So I'll be surprised KJ plays that many minutes. Better bet that Acree, Bumbalough, Coleman, KJ and probably another recruit play as many minutes. At least 5 share minutes at 3 positions.

Without Ish we need to either find another dangerous shooter to transfer in, do better getting Bumbalough and the others shots, or change our game, press and run.
I thought we'd run more this year, but Mallers, Ish and Bumbalough did well enough and we didn't get our athletes on the court enough early to play a press and run game. We should be more athletic next year, Ish was not that athletic.
Perhaps it will be some combination of all of the above.

I’d enjoy seeing more press and run. That’d be fun.

Even when whit signed Huggins he was pretty conservative in his projections on to when Huggins would really be able to contribute. Basically it was almost like “by the end of his career.” Which will be year 5 if he sticks it out. I would would have thought he’d have warranted at least a few minutes this year.

Your coming in pretty full of optimism and seem full of inside info. I hope your correct in your promises.. Just so know we already have our resident Nostradamus but we should be able to accommodate another soothsayer..

Thanks for the welcoming words rmcalhoun.....but I'm not new here. I sit on the sidelines and read your unwavering un-optimism and laugh quite often.
So let's review some things:
Who will shoot a good percentage from the Starting 5 - as I said before and look at late in the year....Thomas can be a sniper from 3 and can hold his own down low. I fully expect him to replace Teague, just in a different way. Not as good defensively but he will be 1st or 2nd team All MAC next year. He fills this spot all by himself.
Jones - He will be a strong addition. Tulsa was a damn good team and he played well at Western. Those experiences will benefit us and him next year. Mallers was playing 32 minutes a game and getting 5 shots off a game. Are you kidding me. Jones fills this position all by himself too.
5 spot - Hazen can shoot it but will get help from Hendricks and transfer I alluded to. Better order a large from Pizza King and wait for that info.
Gunn - He can be placed in starting Line-up and give us some shooting. He will surprise everybody next year. They are buying him graphite ankle braces for next season.
And yes.....I do like Whitford. He's done a nice job. I agree with you that I would have liked to have found a Knapke type player by now but the roster is far from as bad as whoever said we will regress to 2013 next year. We will never know what would have happened this post season.
And as like I always say....I'm welcome to discuss at your favorite Pizza King anytime.
