In the whole musical chairs transfer game these days, if you have a mid-major program, with open scholarships, a gym to play in, and a uniform to give out, you are going to end up with SOME of these transfers. They will probably be able to walk and chew gum, maybe even at the same time, on a good day. You forgot balls. Remember, there was a year where we didn't have any.

Actually if you looked at the Ken Pom percentages then Akron would have been the Champion although my comment of us being in the final were also correct. The comment about us being lazy recruiters is unfair and inaccurate plain and simple.
Maybe not lazy compared to normal people (although Whitford has been known to take some liberties with his job that 90% of us could never get away with).
But lazy next to real recruiters....who tend to be flat-out hyperactive maniacs.

So, ........we won a virtual game on KenPom and that made our season a success? I obviously didn't read the posts very well. My bad.

He left to California for part of a Summer with huge personal issues....would it had been better if he took a personal leave which he did anyway with his Asst in charge.
For a few of you, Whit could never do anything right...but this year's performance of 3rd seed and first in the West gets completely overlooked.....most simply put this past season in with the entire body of work which I understand to a point, but fact is we were in the upper tier of the MAC based on seeding and services such as Kem Pom which some of you occasionally use when it suits your argument.
By the way, Kem Pom was odds by round of advancing which included every team and it had us most likely to make the final along with favored Akron; nothing ever said about virtual that was an assumption.
While I'm on it, several said Teague would never make 1st team ALL MAC....wrong! And, by the way, many said never in the HOF....don't know yet but likely wrong again.
There will be some that complain if we land Zion..
And, RM, Jones in my view will be a very solid MAC pick up that previously averaged better than 10 per game and he has been playing against better competition than in the MAC....I see him as a 12-13 point guy. For Windham, he was a very good HS player in a very good program...he was a Freshman at Creighton...I think that translates to probable success maybe you guys don't that's fine, but again I believe you guys are wrong. We'll see.

Kid, do you even pay attention to what you're linking to? Yes, it's a capacity 7,000-seat arena that had an average attendance of 7,170 during the 2018-19 season.
And then there are the quotes on that website:
"GCU created college basketball's rowdiest secret with stunning quickness. ... home to possibly the best student section in college basketball. Duke has the Cameron Crazies. Kansas has the Phog. GCU has the Havocs." - Andrew Joseph, USA Today
"The excitement level has risen, turning the 7,000-seat arena into one of college basketball’s rowdiest environments." - New York Times
"I can't remember a more electric pregame atmosphere ... I'd hate to be a visiting player here." - Vince Marotta, Arizona Sports
Oh yeah, I'm sure kids would much rather play in the Worthen Mausoleum.
Ball State has a beautiful campus, but flora doesn't appear to be a real big plus in attracting college athletes.

When was the last time we sold 7,000 tickets to a basketball game? They averaged over 7,100 last year, and have been consistently recognized by national publications for their arena quality and atmosphere. They've won 83% of their games there. That is one hell of an arena...I guess that means Duke has a glorified H.S. gym too. I suppose BG's state of the art $30mm Stroh Center is garbage too because it only seats 4,300...

LMills...did I not say 6000-7000? I have been to GC...the campus nowhere compares to BSU...of course, Cardfan insists that doesn't matter to student athletes. Have any of you been to GC?? I have its like a glorified JC. There is no discussion on this point. I would hate to have many of you on my recruitment staff....most of you couldn't sell pussy on a troop train with a credit card..

I didn’t say a nice campus doesn’t matter to players. I said it would not be high on their list of wants and needs. Some great players have over the years chosen campuses that are essentially commuter campuses or are in tough neighborhoods because of The Coach and The Program. And for some maybe a less than stellar campus was close to home or in a big city. Our campus is beautiful. But that won’t be the main decision point.

90% of todays recruits do not care about campus, academics or even the name of the school. They want to know about what type of gear your wearing, How much PT they are going to get, what amenities you have.. Its really not arguable every once in a while you get a Mallers type where academics does matter. Everyone else thinks their college choice is a pit stop on there way to the league. They take general studies classes and skate by the best they can

Its really not arguable every once in a while you get a Mallers type where academics does matter. Everyone else thinks their college choice is a pit stop on there way to the league. They take general studies classes and skate by the best they can And with the relationships you’ve had with coaching staffs of both basketball and football you’ve heard the stories first hand. I can still remember schudel being very upset about the lack of improvements to the football stadium and specifically mentioned losing 2 starter quality defensive backs to BG because of facilities. The beautiful campus had no effect. The beauty of our campus IS a nice selling point but you have to have the bells and whistles and swag plus a coaching staff that can SELL. I hope we can get Griffin (assuming he’s healthy enough). I’m one who’s glad we got windham. But overall, Whitford’s record shows he’s an ok recruiter with ok results. But nothing near championship level. He’s not been able to sell his program and our school/campus to enough difference makers. Especially at the 4/5 spot. (Teague finally did become one this past season. But he truly was more of a 3 in style of game). And if you say he’s been very successful at recruiting then he can’t coach, because the proof is in the pudding. If we’ve had really good recruits we sure haven’t gotten results from it every March. And We can’t keep living on/waiting on transfers.
