Boredom has me thinking and if there is a season its going to be a weird one...(I do not think there is going to be a season)
First off a lot of college kids succeed because of the structure and being driven by their coaches.. This is not happening right now
So we are going to have some kids who are way out of shape/struggling with grades/failing drug tests and possibly getting in trouble while at home.
Kids also have had no where to work out and most are probably not following dietary plans and or taken the needed supplements to get bigger faster stronger..
All this is going to make injuries worse than normal
Younger kids are simply not going to be ready
One advantage we will have
If you are a team starting a new QB or Qb new to the program you are going to be screwed.. No way to simulate off season workouts and reps.. Learning and studying via Zoom is not going to cut it..
Having a senior QB and a veteran team is going to be huge

Hard to imagine football being played by September.

It was only speculation in an answer to a student’s question but UCONN’s president said if he had to guess, there won’t be Fall sports. That’s based on right now but it’s not going to be that different by sept. Especially if it’s almost certain the second wave of the virus will he around October.

I still believe that until July 1 you hold out hope. How late is BSU going to wait to make a call on having on campus students this fall. To me the two are announced at the same time & include all fall semester sports.

I’d say we’re 90% chance of being online only in the fall.

You have to have a minimum of 6 weeks to be close to ready.. Without the 4 weeks of spring ball and conditioning we are so far behind

One issue is you have to plan a ahead so far. They will make a decision in May and June.
School starting is one variable. Even with school in session safety of the players, fans and staff is another issue.

I’d say we’re 90% chance of being online only in the fall. I realize this is the wrong thread, but what do you think this means for basketball? No basketball played until January? Elimination of entire non-conference season? Entire basketball schedule comprised of 18 MAC games and MAC tournament?

If the second wave comes through and it’s worse.....

The predicted second wave if it comes in Fall could easily kill BB season. At least a season with crowds...A better chance if we don't open in Fall maybe?

Students can be protected. And most can also weather a bout with the virus. That is true.
I am much more concerned about faculty and staff and about the community around the University.
20K students will mean literally thousands positive in a second wave, many asymptomatic. That's a challenge.
It is hard to imagine a dorm, library, classrooms, cafeterias, and other gathering places allowing social distancing ...the virus will thrive. Like nursing homes in terms of number of cases.
Although if students are infected get and possibly get sick they may not face mortality, but there may be hundreds need hospitalization. This will take beds and could in a wave be a burden on the medical community capacity.
Students shop in the community, work there, interact with non student population, many vulnerable.
Which means the community which has a large number who do face lethal consequence, has more exposure to infection and less access to health care they need.

If the virus is as bad as all this, there will be multiple waves and multiple new virus' right behind it. Shut it all down and be wards of the state.
The hospitals all ran out of beds and ventilators and everything during this first wave, so it can only get worse.
Wait, I'm going over and shut off the TV. There.......fixed it for ya.
It's a free country (or, it was). Stay hunkered down in the back room and the rest of us will get back to normal.
