If we thought we shot a lot of 3’s before....

I generally agree with Reality's assessment, but I think we will come into the MAC with the best team on paper; On the guards we agree, I believe Acree & Thomas showed enough late to expect very good play out of both and Gunn is the best shooter on the team and has been working on his strength and ball handling...if he can learn to go off the dribble he can be lethal from distance. Hazen can play D and rebound. The key to me is whether Hendricks has grown over the past 12 months both physically and as a player but regardless we will be a contender not a pretender.

I think we are going to have a team that just pisses us off and drives us crazy.. When its going good and we are shooting the three well we are going to tough to beat.. When we shoot the three bad we are going to get blown out. I do not see us being able to run any other offense than a barrage of threes

When we shoot the three bad we are going to get blown out. I do not see us being able to run any other offense than a barrage of threes The threat of the 3 point barrage will open the middle for some scoring in the lane. Jones, Thomas, KJ, Coleman, Acree can take advantage of that.
When we don't hit the open 3 and they can pack inis when we are in trouble. But. Last year although Teague could sometimes score inside he needed some room to be really effective and we needed outside shooting then too. Moreover, we had only Mallers, Ish and sometimes Bumbalough as shooters. If one of those guys is off his game this year we should have a couple of more threats on the bench.
On the whole I am more worried about inside defense than inside offense.
If another team has an aircraft carrier inside, we have to double team, help and recover, but that always opens up other things. That's the case we have to shoot well. Against that team we have to find a way to take advantage and get something from our athleticism, perhaps have to run and shoot more.
On offense last year we have had some issues with turnovers and bad shots, we need to improve there. Ironically losing Taj will probably help on both counts.

I generally agree with Reality's assessment, but I think we will come into the MAC with the best team on paper We haven't seen who we have available for sure and I don't know the other rosters so well. But, with a weakness inside which could hurt on defense, we do have a chance to be in the top group again.

No one in the MAC West kept their big guys. The leading rebounders in the West returning are led by Ty Groce EMU 6'7" 212 at 5.2,#2 Walton at 5 BSU, #3 4.8 Coleman BSU, #4 Marreon Jackson Tol 4.3 6' 180, #5 Whitten 4.3 WMU 6'4" 185, # 6 Coachran 4.1 NIU 6'2" 220, #7 Wright 4 WMU 6'8" 250, #8 Hazen 3.8 BSU, # 9 Burrell 3.4 CMU 6'7" 181, & # 10 Beane 3.3 NIU 6'3" 175. El Amin at 3.1 is tied at 11th with Binelli EMU 6'10" 215. Maybe someone coming in can rebound but I doubt if they are a real big man because the MAC doesn't get them. Look at the list 6 of the top ten are guards. We won't be playing any one in the west with a go too big man unless their a new recruit. The MAC West if the schools had the money could have easily justified firing all six coaches at the end of the yr but five of them come back.

I do think that the difference makers on the best MAC teams are guards. I also think next year's team will slash a lot more than they have in the past. However, I was still hoping Hunsaker 76 was right and we were getting an 18/12 guy. Akron has a potential player like that coming in in Taylor Currie-committed to Michigan, went to Wisconsin, left for Mott (24/11).

Has been for a long time. But you still need a Teague type around the paint, if not a stronger big.
