This is the worst possible news. Without divisions what are we going to be co-champs of?

This is the worst possible news. Without divisions what are we going to be co-champs of? I shoulda thought of that. Now when we finish with the 4th or 5th best record we’ll truly place 4th or 5th.

This is absolutely extraordinary news for Ball State. We can actually win an outright conference title in any number of sports without the risk of faceplanting in the first or second round of the conference tournament!
If this doesn't thrill you, you're an idiot.

Holy shit.
Just goes to show how costly the tournaments were for the minor sports.
For basketball it makes a lot of sense to have the top 8 teams go right to Cleveland. But with 20 MAC games, we'll see powerhouses like Florida A&M, Delaware State, and North Florida fall off the schedule.

I think we'll see more of those, lose the mid-majors, and maybe add another couple power-5 games to make money. Gotta try to hit that 20W mark by playing an IU-esque non-conference schedule, especially with 2 more MAC games that Whitford won't win.

I don't think it is the current administration having any particular preference for easy wins. The power conferences are not that easy to schedule. Plus we get better attendance at home games with decent competition. Another home conference games is good for that.
The 2 games we lose from our recent schedules will probably be one cupcake at home during holiday season as we start conference play earlier, and one other. I agree with lurkin here. It would be more likely the worthless and unattractive early season game against the little sisters of the poor type teams. Still plenty of room for a cupcake or two on the schedule.

The virus has dramatically impacted the financial situation of MAC sports, moving them from disastrously wasteful to completely disastrously wasteful. These earthshaking cuts should lift the MAC sports financial situation from completely disastrously wasteful to marginally less completely disastrously wasteful.

The educational experience at MAC schools just won't be the same without the women's soccer tourney.

I never liked tournaments at the end of the season. This makes the regular season mean something again. I like it
