It pisses me off since the messaging sequence seems fairly likely to reflect dangerous political influence on the CDC. More important flip flopping creates even greater difficulty in dealing with public health communication. Almost rather see it stay inaccurate and be consistent on that count. Not quite though. Accurate is important. Supporting accurate science would be nice, regrettably not really valued by the Administration.
It is totally understandable scientific opinion can change. Initial opinion about the virus reflected what we knew then. Mostly sneezing and coughing was the known and reliable fact. If the new knowledge about airborne spread was well grounded, as it was, then making that part of the message and the policy change was essential.
That it was bad news and made the disease more dangerous seemed the main reason we saw a change. As winter approaches the evidence will mount that it was accurate to say airborne spread is important if not primary.
Glad to see the record straight but the CDC is clearly not independent and free of political influence.

Everyone is going to think its IU Someone needs to do some contact tracing and give her some BSU gear. In fact, there's a general lack of school spirit on display throughout the photo. Hunt them all down

The covid lock down experiment appears to have put Holcomb in the danger zone. The libertarian is polling at 24%. I guess some people object to the government forcing a cloth around their face. Somebody should force Trump to wear a mask. He's back in the WH NOT masked. This intentionally endangering everyone he contacts. This is not hypothetical danger. He's diagnosed and contagious. Staffers cannot go near him or be in a poorly ventilated room he spent time in. This is nuts. A general telling his troops to gather together under fire instead of spreading out or taking cover. Worse because he's firing away randomly in their midst.

You should know he is not going to wear a mask.. His narrative is going to be I fought corona and beat it three days doing it my way. This will not be lying people will counter with well you received medicine not everyone can get. His reply will be I have been saying for months we need to rush and make these medicines available now. Again not lying by saying that. Any politician is going to spin it into fitting what ever agenda they are pushing..

I think the new current guidelines make sense. Person to person. The rest can happen but rare. No doctor here but makes sense to me.

I mean really wear a mask if you can when your out and about to try and help.. Reality is unless you live alone and never leave if you happen to end up at the wrong place at the right time your probably going to get it

You should know he is not going to wear a mask.. His narrative is going to be...Any politician is going to spin it into fitting what ever agenda they are pushing.. I am not talking spin. My gripe is he is contagious and should protect others around him. This is not a case where he MIGHT be contagious. 5 days in he is. UNLESS of course he lied earlier and this is not day 5. There is either a lie or irresponsibly and intentionally taking chances with others health if he doesn't mask. If he's in the group infected without serious illness, he's lucky, good for him. But the donor or advisor or aide he employs ought to be cared about.

I agree with you Im not sure how you deal with that though. I guess if someone does not want to be there they have the option to quit
the other possibility is people are staying away from him the white house is big.. He wears a mask behind closed doors as do the others then he removes the mask right as the doors are opening,, creating the illusion of the non masked mad man.. The more I think about it this is probably the case

Whether transmission is droplet or airborne, the message to the public is the same: Wear a mask.
With airborne there's just the threat of it hanging in the air longer, traveling farther.
Not sure when the CDC has gone back and forth on this, but hospitals from the start were treating it as airborne.
