Hopefully we can keep this thread political-free. Does anyone have Any insight on our plans (and the MAC in general) regarding the schedule? We have lost 3 games already. Are we going to drop Wyoming too and go Conference only? We could add MAC East opponents to fill the void. This option seems like most plausible option to me . If not, are we going to play only 8 or 9 games? Cancelled season seems to me unlikely, at least my hope is we don’t end up there. I’d be curious to get your thoughts on: 1. What the schedule will look like and 2. Your preferred schedule in the current environment.

Yeah I wonder how late they can wait to make a decision on the season. The NFL can’t seem to get its act together so we cant use them as a barometer.

I think the MAC will wait as long as possible. Right now, the consensus among various other college threads is that the MAC schools stand a good chance to still collect the money game fees from the Big Ten. It seems unlikely the Big Ten can invoke the force majeure clauses that would claim the games as unplayable when they're still playing conference games, i.e. Ohio St couldn't get out paying $1M+ to in-state BG for a bus-in home game on account of the pandemic while at the same time traveling 4x as far and flying to Rutgers or Nebraska.
If/once the MAC decides to go conference-only, the consensus opinion is that the MAC legal stature to collect from the Big Ten is greatly diminished with the feeling being that legally the game would've been considered mutually unplayable if both sides go conference-only.
Very possible the MAC/BigTen negotiates some sort of partial payout now, future guarantee games at inflated $ amounts, and then if every other conference cancels non-conference games then the MAC would have no choice remaining. I'd highly doubt the Wyoming game is played in Muncie this year.

Agree on the Wyoming game. They probably won’t want to come out here.

At this stage, I wouldn't mind just going all-MAC for the year. I think it would be kind of interesting. That would give each team 11 games with minimum travel, keeping everyone pretty much within their geographic footprint (minus Buffalo).

I don't know about the MAC but I'm hoping like hell Florida cancels all high school sports!

I'll behave.
In THIS thread, anyway.
Everything is so up in the air, nothing would surprise me at this point.
On a positive (!) note, the Indy Eleven has started playing in Lucas Oil Stadium. So there's that.

Des Moines Register this morning says look for B12 to go to a 10 game schedule. They think Iowa State will eliminate UNLV from schedule 1st & pick either SD or BSU to play. Odds are probably in our favor as we are a D1 opponent.

Can Ball State schedule 4 Big-12 OOC games?
