Ive been reluctant to mention this in a public setting cause I just do not do that but I have been silently optimistic and very excited about this year. Im not saying we could go undefeated but I think we can be right there in the mix for a championship. Sadly I just do not think its going to happen

With IU and Michigan off the schedule anything is possible but something tells me no matter what our record is this season with all kinds of restrictions on the games we play it will not be the same as in the past.

Rob, do you not think that football would try to move their conference schedules to the spring if they do cancel for the fall ?

I wouldn't conclusively rule anything out, given the utterly heedless stupidity with which BSU funds and manages the football program.
If the SEC and Big10 decide to play some form of a season in order to preserve some of their enormous revenue surplus, the idiotic MAC may decide they need to same, even though the financial situation is the exact opposite. That's how the MAC rolls.

Not ruling anything out either, but this is not business as usual, so I am not sure the same logic applies to this decision. Not sure about Buffalo, but Ohio and Michigan schools definitely are under very heavy financial pressure.

We're going to play 11 games, all against the MAC, win them all convincingly and party like it's 2008. Then a huge COVID outbreak will hit the midwest right after Thanksgiving and the MAC championship game will be cancelled. The MAC will refuse to acknowledge us as the conference champs due to no title game. Then, when things go back to normal next season, we'll go 4-8 again.

Sounds like everyone projects problems. Just read the article where Alvarez is saying Wisconsin could lose 100M of their 140M budget.

IF there is a season and IF it's all conference play, it will be interesting to see how they handle the 384 bowl games after the season.

IF there is a season and IF it's all conference play, it will be interesting to see how they handle the 384 bowl games after the season. It is expensive and rarely produces a profit unless you put high value for participants for good will and advertising. Fewer schools are going to be up for that. If even a few schools decline invite, you are going to end up with not enough winning teams to fill the bowl slate.
TV might be the only revenue stream this year. Can't see people traveling. I can't see the marginal bowls doing anything but cancelling if there is no tourism element or exorbitant ticket buy requirements possible.
As starved as we are for sports entertainment, it might still be good TV. Perhaps we might as well just have all the TV games at one site...ESPN rents a big unused stadium for 6 weeks.
Made for TV anyway, why not put it in a sort of studio setting, forget the fans and bands traveling someplace that could be closed down anyway.

ND is considering a full ACC conference schedule for 2020. This would provide them with an 11 game schedule.
