The Red Carpet Inn on South Madison gets some very interesting reviews on TripAdvisor. There are 30 reviews: 2 Excellent, 0 Very Good, 1 Average, 1 Poor and 26 Terrible. I'm pretty sure the 2 "excellents" are plants. Here are some excerpts (note that the grammar and spelling are not always up to the high standards of the OTP message boards):
The bathroom was completely disgusting and smelled like either someone sexually relieved themselves everywhere or where cooking drugs. Regardless, it was very disturbing.
I did get to watch a pimp kick back in the lounge area while I tried to retrieve my money out of a broken vending machine .
Just finished taking pictures of All the bed bug bites, and will be reporting this motel/hotel in he morning
There was roaches and people selling drugs in the hallways. People having sex in the parking lot and leaving used condoms for children to find. Very rude workers there and you have people getting drunk at the pool to the point they can't stand. Not to mention the fight I seen because of the child molesters that are registered there.
When we arrived back at OUR room a few hours later we found other peoples' belongings in the room.
I said to my husband what is this the modern day BATES MOTEL!?!?!?!?! There was drops of blood on the floor
well let's see I understand draining a pool, what I don't understand is when the pool has standing water and green gunk all over it... leaving a smell as you walk out of the room, I was seriously surprized to see a duck swimming around it .... I"m thinking the content of the sludge was probably toxic.
A few minutes later I awoke to the tune of extremely load THUG music. I got dressed and went to see the manager, passing dozens of young people drinking. He said they were having a small party, yet they were not guests staying at the hotel. Walking back to the room it appeared that this was no small party. The parking lot was now full, yet there was only about 10 guest owned vehicles. This small party had about 200 THUG guests from what I could see.
Instead we packed and departed Indiana at 2 a.m. It was difficult just getting out of the parking lot with all the Hoopty THUG Mobiles everywhere.
Finally Told them I want my money back or I want a pillow! at midnight A toothless maid came to our room I told her THANK YOU she said ah ha and then mumbled something as she was walking off.
the whole place smells like it has been on fire at one time and smells of mold...don't be fooled they also advertise a hotel bar they have none... no liquor license bar is shut down pitty cause after seeing the rest of the place i needed a drink... this place is ran by the talaban i think verry disapointing dont waste your time or money on this septic tank of a hotel
he woke the attendent who was an Indian man short heafty wearing shorts no shoes hair sticking straight up very rude and missing teeth.
there was a stench comming from the pool which was green and full of what looked like swamp water the grass was uncut litter filled the yard curtains were down in other rooms matresses stained were standing in the windows in the court yard a crack [--] was standing outside my door cursing her pimp about how much money she owed him
The door latch did not work, door opened simply by pushing on it. Lights did not work in one room. Only one sheet on bed (no top sheet). Floors filthy. Ashes on water closet. No towels. Trash in drawers. Lots of pealing paint and broken glass. Brown water. Hot/Cold water could not be regulated. Bugs in shower. Chairs just nasty. Breakfast was WalMart donuts (one box) no beverage. Pool was two foot low and green (closed). No ice maker. junk stored in vacont rooms. Smoke detectors missing, wiring a mess. How this dump is still open is my question.
the lawn is full of weeds and uncut, there are broken down vehicles all over the parking lot; there are bums walking thru the parking lot at all hours. I was approached twice by prostitutes while walking my dog in the parking lot. I was awaken at midnight by a woman looking for hte man that lived in the room i was staying in and was persistant by banging on all the doors looking for him.
