Remember last season when we were 0-1, had just seen the Miami team we lost to get trounced by Buffalo, and were down 21-7 to EMU who was 0-1 at the time as well?
I was basically writing the season off as more of the same at that point.

I was still super concerned after they struggled to beat NIU.

I was still super concerned after they struggled to beat NIU. Yeah. We had to come from behind against EMU to win in the last minute. Then against 0-2 NIU we also struggled. Against Toledo we had a lead and almost blew it. When we were 3-1 I remember telling a co-worker our best performance to date had been the one game we lost.

We seemed to get a bit better every game by the end we were firing on all cylinders

Even after the NIU win I felt this was a 3-3 team at best. So glad to be wrong!

We seemed to get a bit better every game by the end we were firing on all cylinders To me, it will be interesting to see how this group responds to success. They really proved they can play good football when they had to win. It will be a challenge for the staff to keep them hungry. Maybe the fact that they will now be wearing the target will supply motivation to prove they really belong. This seems to be a pretty mature and level headed group. A lot of leadership returns.

The whole team returns, pretty much. I expect them to contend again.

I don't pretend to know what the locker room was like before they started rolling compared to after. But it sure looked like they were having a lot of fun at the end of the year and I suspect they are hungry to keep that up. Another really good year could go such a long way in developing some continuity of success and depth with the program. Another good year means another bunch of good recruits battling for the same job and having solid backups. I know that isn't rocket science but the program really hasn't gotten to enjoy any of that.

I have to give Mike and his staff a TON of credit. They stayed the course, built a unique loyalty, following, and discipline with the guys. They clearly had something special by the end. And he and his staff very quietly built a very talented roster.
This group is well-equipped to do so, but winning at that level is so hard - especially repeating when you have a target on your back. I don't think anyone really took us seriously last year (and no, I'm not saying that's why we won, but having a target on your back makes it even harder).

Agree it will be so much harder next year and even if we are still damn good we will feel disapointed

I think or DC has some plans to impress us.
