Under Whitford on the same team for multiple years we had ... Two players who would finish among the top 10 all-time BSU scorers (Persons and Teague) Two players who would finish among the top 10 all-time BSU rebounders (Teague and Moses) Two players who would finish among the top 10 all-time BSU shot blockers (Teague and Moses) A player would would finish among the top 5 all-time BSU assists (Persons) And we won bupkis with them. So either we had players who really weren't that great but compiled stats because they were mostly four-year starters ... or we have a coach who did a decent job recruiting some talent, but just had/has no clue as to how to shape it into a championship caliber team. “Bad luck.” “Injuries.” “Suspensions.” “Covid.”

Can we just agree it’s both? Why can’t we have cluelessness AND four year starters equate to mediocrity? That seems somehow better to me.

Over the past few years, BSU Basketball has been a gathering of a bunch of really good musicians, but with a conductor who cannot get them to form an orchestra. Excellent analogy. Maybe this group wants rock and roll and our conductor plays cool modern jazz. Appeals to the administration, though.
Our musicians not comprising enough head banging hard driving bass with great individual guitar riffs just don't please this audience which wants to throw beer bottles at the chicken wire in front of the band.

I think the problem is more that the audience recognizes BSU basketball has become Spinal Tap.

Really not surprising either. It’s the tree he came from and as I’ve said all season Miller at IU and Whitford both have pretty good talent on the roster but when they get out to play together they look like they picked up a basketball for the first time!

"Nah, we are more like a STYX tribute band. "
But which one?
Styxology? Return to Paradise? Blue Collar Men? Rockin' the Paradise? Grand Illusion? Grand Allusion? or Renegade?

Nah, we are more like a STYX tribute band. We're more like a tribute band for a Styx tribute band.
