IVE tried to help him and have let him know numerous times that things are not as the seem in basketball land. I've told him that 90% of the fan base is pissed. 90% of the fans do not care quite enough to be pissed. Or maybe 90% are pretty easily pleased not to care a lot is better way to put it. And then again the fans don't really count all that much maybe?

Now if BSU were to send out that poll or post it to the athletics page how do you think it would project out? I'm going to guess you would get a fairly similar results

The dog walking tweets instead of defending his article or offering to talk to someone for tge other side of the story tell you all you need to know about how he going to proceed. He thinks because he is the sports writer he knows more than people who have watched this unfold for years. And people who know various people on the inside know stuff he doesn’t know and doesn’t ask about. I get it though do not rock the boat and get a paycheck

I planned to reach out to Greg Fallon, Executive Editor at the MSP, to express my opinion on Guskey. (Since Greg was a sports writer/editor for nine years at MSP before his promotion, I thought I might get a sympathetic ear.) I now see he left MSP last August and currently does the digital marketing for Ball State. Oh well.

Guskey’s super mature response to the tweets decrying his article: “I’m walking my foster dog. Appreciate your thoughts.” Not once but 3 times. Why respond in that manner? I agree. He might as well just simply take the Fifth and not reply rather than come back with such a mindless response.

You know if writing for a newspaper was my job and the star player of my team announced he was going to transfer. I would probably have written an article about it by now or I'm still trying to fund a way to spin it

Might be hard to get any comments and have much to write.

Might be hard to get any comments and have much to write. From who, Coleman, the coaching staff, sports information? It’s his job. You can always drop the story and put further content coming later. They do that all the time? Are you just the apology police for every person who can’t seem to do their job? Whether it’s coaches or ADs or sportswriters or admins you’re constantly throwing out the alternative excuse for everyone. I’m starting to catch on that maybe you’re just here to troll.

Writing that Coleman has placed his name in the transfer portal and that neither he nor Whitford nor teammates returned calls seeking comment or refused to comment is completely acceptable. Add in a few stats and you're done. Doesn't have to be long. Just acknowledge the event. Less than 30 minutes of real work involved. If anybody actually responds maybe it gets longer and more involved.

I'm drunk on spring break but I have three minutes...
As the Ball State season ended there were already many questions that need to be answered heading into next year. James Whitford is entering the final year of his contract is an extension coming? What will the roster look like with three players moving on? On Thursday the already cloudy waters became even murkier when Ball State Star Jaron Coleman announced his intent to transfer. If Coleman does indeed transfer this leaves a gaping hole in what will be an already thin roster. This might explain why the Ball State staff has shown interest in several transfers over the last few days. The Staff here at the Star Press has reached out to Coleman,James Whitford and Ball States SID but none were available for comment we will update this story as soon as we can

Coleman has entered the transfer portal. We don't need another bunch of garbage with speculative spin and opinion from Whitford and others to try and shape our opinion about a topic.

If some adjectives were left out this would be a completely acceptable journalistic piece. This pressures the powers-that-be to address these issues, which is kinda the point of journalism.

Of course his talents are very great and the story fairly simple.
I go along with the idea you could publish a simple factual story.
I also would bet that simple story has been written.
Why it would not be published is an editorial decision. My opinion stated above is the editor wants comments. Not unreasonable, either. I don't think the story as stated factually is that big deal to publish one way or the other.
I suppose there is also some decent possibility here that there is other news related to it, or at least it's reasonable the editor thinks that.
