Whoa... Next season has the potential to be Whitford's worst. None of the three seniors with possible "covid eligibility" want to stick around and now the leading returning player is transferring.
I'm sharpening my pitchfork. Who has the torches?

As frustrating as his turnovers and out of control play is, he is a talent who could put it all together. There aren't many of those on Whitford's roster. I'm a bit surprised on this. I always thought Coleman and Whitford were joined at the hip. I wonder if there is any tie-in with Whitford's contract situation. Could it be he and Whitford realizes Whitford isn't going to be BSU's coach past next season, so might as well transfer now? Could it be Whitford encouraged him to hit the transfer portal as leverage to get an extension? Like, "hey Beth, I can get our most talented player to stay if you extend me a few years". Here’s a news flash. Coleman is more interested in Coleman than he is Ball State or whatever school he attends. He has looked at our returning roster and prospects for next year and sees what we see. Our frontline consists of Thomas, Huggins and the freshman from Winchester. Our backcourt is him, Bumbalough who has been overmatched most games and The Finn. Our wings are Acree and Gunn and a gimpy Jones. That is a 12 win roster. He is not a team first guy, he’s immature and a acts like a Prima Donna. He’s very talented and will likely get swept up. This is another indication our culture is extremely dysfunctional. I agree it's a good analysis on Coleman's transfer, but here's why it still doesn't make sense. Coleman used his redshirt year as a freshman, played his sophomore year, and then got a free year as a junior. Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless he has graduated after 3 years (highly unlikely), he will need to sit a year wherever he transfers to and lose a year of eligibility. He would then have 2 years left to play wherever he goes. Otherwise, he could play next season at Ball State, graduate as a senior, and then graduate transfer to wherever with 2 years left to play. By transferring this year, he is losing 1 of the 3 years of college eligibility he has left. He hates Ball State so much, or to use your logic he is such a Prima Donna, he's willing to not play next season and then play 2 years more when he could have played all 3 years?

It will make Beth's decision not to renew a no-brainer.

Unless they extend him this summer.
That's what I expect.

Obvious.
What, with having nearly, but not quite, made the NCAA so often under Whitford.

The NCAA Transfer Portal - providing collegiate athletes the opportunity to be "Blessed" or "Truly Blessed" on multiple occasions !

Apparently Goetz is in San Antonio at the Women's NCAA Tournament and will speak with Whitford when she returns. "He said that with athletic director Beth Goetz’s responsibilities with the NCAA’s Division I women’s basketball tournament, his extension is something they’ll agree on when that ends." a quote from Whitford.

I’ll say it again, with Ish and Coleman in the transfer portal our coach needs to be sent walking! We have nothing to lose, but a new coach will have a tough start. The administration at Ball U needs to grow some and move on, we fans are getting tired of mediocrity!

He’s pretty certain he’s getting that extension. To me that indicates Beth HAS discussed it with him. I just wish people would clout would advise her it would be a bad move.

Realtycheck is spot on about Coleman. I think Realtycheck is a home buyers shopping service.

He is also very certain that his basketball strategy is the best way. The story was also pretty reassuring that Coleman would be here next season. An extension would be about the stupidest thing she could do. Just keep us in a perpetual buyout situation forever.
