He did have a tremendous career. Led us to um, er...a uh, back 2 back um seasons with several two game winning streaks and top 3 finishes in the MAC West.

Watch Akron brings in a shooting coach that gets KJ to 30ish percent from three. Just good enough you have to guard him and he becomes unstoppable. Of course he is going to drop 35 on our heads no matter what

Next year's team is going to be comically bad. I don't blame any of these dudes for bailing. I blame James Whitford for not creating a culture that cultivates loyalty. I doubt anyone ON THE TEAM knows what "Ball State Basketball" is supposed to represent because it has absolutely no identity right now. LOYALTY? He probably helped them transfer!

This definitely sucks. I honestly probably am a bigger fan if KJ's ability than most of our fans. What an obvious red flag for Whitford. Well, it's at least obvious to 90-95% of us here.

Whitford straight up and openly talks about how he'll do anything to help those guys, including find new schools. Yeah, he makes no effort to try to keep them at BSU and BUILD something. He's perfectly fine with giving them scholarships, giving them plenty of playing time for a couple of years and then helping them move on. "Hey, player X, whatever you want to do is fine with me."

Slap in the face my exactly my first thought.
I would think you guys would appreciate a slap in the face since, as BSU basketball fans, you are accustomed to frequent and continual kicks in the groin.
Thank you sir...
I didn't think it was legal to pay for this sort of abuse in Indiana.

Why have we not heard from 00mh on this.. I am anxiously waiting his take on this Look back at my posts on KJ. He's what I expected from day 1. MAC starter who if he played D would be a key part of a good team. Only a star if he greatly improved shooting. My optimism about his future was tempered after watching practices and seeing his shooting form needed almost total makeover to be a good mid range jump shooter. Worse, his 3pfg efforts from a set position, despite coaching efforts, frustrated everyone. Never saw him hit 30% in a setting with defenders, or show ability to go from a shooting setup to really good drive to the basket. Would not be totally shocked to see him realize he needed that, and make the commitment to completely overhaul his shooting. But he has some limitations and I doubt his new coach will make the difference unless KJ changes. Could happen. But. Very probably the coach wants him for his existing strengths, more or less as he is, a good kid, a solid MAC starter with a role to play on a good team because of his athleticism. I don't see him as losing a big plus to our team next year. Yes, he'd help as an athlete, but he's not a leader, not a shooter, which we need from someone else. We've replaced him with a kid who has 2 years to play with some of the same strengths on offense, a little more strength, and hopefully a better jump shot... we've added a Freshman who is an athlete, a bit bigger. We'll succeed next year only if we can get a big man on the floor, and find another shooter. As good as I thought Coleman and Ish could be, filling in for those losses and the solid effort and play of Hazen are our problems next year.

What about losing him to akron and the optics of that

Just curious to how many on this board have contacted the AD with concerns about Whitford?
